For many years Tridge has been very active (foundational) in the Ardupilot community -- open-source drone flight controllers. I had to go get a real job a few years ago so I haven't followed that community as closely as I'd like, but I know that making things fly is way more interesting than SMB so I don't fault him for shifting hist interests. :-)
Also, when you are making real things fly, reality has a way of sanity checking your code. I know he is top notch and super careful.
My 2 cents (just guessing) is that Claude gave some suggestions for optimizations or improvements and Tridge curated and tested them ... and something slipped through the cracks ... which can happen for anyone at any time with any changes coming from anywhere. We didn't just start seeing bugs in code in the last 6-12 months when AI began helping.
I would stand down with the pitchforks until we know more. :-)
