You specifically said you don't want to see people poor. That is a comment on price, not adoption.
On adoption: Monero dominates Bitcoin when both are accepted, and Monero's adoption as p2p money is trending positively (see xmrbazaar. In fact you can even see positive trends on here of people wanting to send XMR via payment targets and negative trends on BTC zaps).
