They held loyalties to leaders, not to Christ. They chose their own interpretation over the true understanding of Christ. Blindly walking. The blind leading the blind. That's what happened. Leaders who couldn't see, leading people who couldn't see. Both falling. Both lost. Both thinking they were right.
