Half of all Catholics are women because they live in countries that enforce catholicism. Through things like propaganda. Or the Crusades. Or witch hunts They dominated the culture. That is not proof that they are not oppressive or that there is no resistance, or that they respect women. It's kind of like saying, "How can slavery be bad when I have so many slaves! Look at all the black people participating in this institution!" There wasn't a choice.
