At the end of the 30 minutes time limit the state polling priority queue was messed up, leading to the laser controller being hammered with bursts of redundant state requests, a couple of particular corner cases in the implementation of the command were not dealt with (maximum frame size of comms buffers, requiring diagnostics data traces to be fragmented).

Eventually I aborted the mess, and just wrote it down myself. 10 minute job.
