"The human brain was not designed to consume photorealistic fiction stories."
I've often reflected upon that very idea, coming to the conclusion that movies are Satan hacking the human mind and netting the soul in the bargain. The film of the moment captures your attention and sucks you in with drama, or suspense, or maybe eroticism, and you begin to identify with the protagonist as you're drawn further and further into the fantasy world developing in front of your eyes.
The critical part of your mind shuts down somewhere along the way as your brainwaves literally shift into a more dreamlike and suggestible state of awareness. Your guard now down, the kosher mind fuckers waltz in and ply their demonic trade, casting spell after spell. The goyim never stood a chance.
