I often used to spend time with my students (inspired by fried who were anarchists) making the distinction between anarchism as chaos (the critique) and anarchism as localised organic normative construction - I've always been of the opinion that forms of political anarchism have a scale problem - when social networks are 'thick' its possible, but when you move beyond such well developed social networks, the law is required to guard against bad faith & other problems
