nostria (nprofile…dmep) supports a "friends only" filter for threads, it's "self-enforcing" obviously, but it does restrict participation in threads to those the original poster is following. The idea here is that this might end up in a NIP where the event might have a tag indicating that this behavior should be applied or not, and then enforced by clients.

It effectively removes all spam, but also shows replies in the social network of the person you are looking at. Maybe it shouldn't disable interactions though, but this is an alternative to "Your Following", because "Your Following" is a different social graph than someone elses, and you don't want to filter out valuable interactions in threads by applying "Your Following" to someone else.

that's another reason nostr needs the Facebook friend request system, because I only want to accept friend requests of people I know in real life, or I know are real people based on their notes,

without the friend request, nostr is too much like x where anyone and any bot can reply to our notes which turns it into a trashy fake full of bots social media which makes me not want to zap any note.
