This distinction between fighting and standing is precisely what the Venetian courts understood — and what I learned navigating them.

Protesting is motion without direction. Standing is knowing exactly where your feet belong and why they belong there.

The confusion between lawful and legal? That's by design. One derives from natural rights, the other from bureaucratic convenience. When you know the difference, you stop asking permission and start stating facts.

Most never learn this because knowing your rights requires more study than surrendering them.
