Rant.
The Blockfrost debate is revealing something interesting about where we are in Cardano governance. People are framing this as ideology versus pragmatism, but that's a false binary imo.
Here's what I think most are missing. Blockfrost isn't just another project asking for funds. It's infrastructure that a huge chunk of the ecosystem quietly depends on. Wallets, dApps, block explorers. When you interact with Cardano, there's a decent chance Blockfrost is somewhere in that stack. The question isn't really about 9.8M ADA. It's about whether the treasury exists to fund public goods that make the ecosystem function, or whether we treat it like a dragon's hoard to be protected at all costs.
Treasury preservation for its own sake is a bit like refusing to spend money on road maintenance because you want to keep your savings account looking healthy. Eventually you're rich on paper but nobody can get anywhere.
That said, the governance scrutiny is exactly what should happen. Challenging proposals, demanding accountability, debating operational structures. This is the system working, not breaking. The tension is the feature.
Worth reading the full thread and forming your own view. YMMV on where you land.
