But lefty school abolitionists aren’t the only ones who’ve lost sight of what the public school system is for, or why it’s mandatory. They’re not the only ones overlooking the struggles waged by parents of non-white kids, or disabled kids, or kids with learning disabilities - even by those kids themselves - to realize the promise of *universal* public education, and to be acknowledged as equal members of their communities and societies.
