In the era this home was made, only 10% of residential buildings (including apartment buildings!) were built out of concrete, so this was a rarity here as well. The original owner must have been rich. It's the only reason this 50-year old home is still inhabitable. If it was built out wood like most other homes, it would have been an earthquake deathtrap and torn down.
