I don’t agree. Just because there was an exploit doesn’t mean the incentives aren’t aligned for companies to provide viable and durable self-custody solutions.
A legal business that has long-term potential profitability is appealing and a positive incentive. Being a hated criminal thief who could lose everything and go to prison for decades isn’t a reasonable goal.
Edge case yes it can happen, but most aren’t willing to risk losing their successful business / position and become a globally most wanted figure.
