After last night's unwanted SD card formatting, I used some commercial software to try to recover the images. It found and recovered 17 ORFs (Olympus' proprietary RAW files).
Another go with some other software found 352 ORFs, but wanted £74 to save them.
So I've turned to PhotoRec, a #FOSS command line util -
https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec - and it's found 237 ORFs already with about 50 minutes to go.
The lesson? Learn to use Terminal. It'll save you a fortune AND you'll get more done.
