"content": "🇬🇧 Treasury and FCA Give Evidence to Lords Financial Services Committee on UK #Stablecoin Framework\n\n🏛️ On 15 April, the UK House of Lords Financial Services Regulation Committee heard oral evidence from Lucy Rigby KC MP, Economic Secretary to HM Treasury and David Geale and Matthew Long, both Directors at the Financial Conduct Authority — as part of its ongoing inquiry into the growth and regulation of #stablecoins in the UK.\n\n📍Key themes included the Government’s pro-innovation stance on digital assets, the push to integrate stablecoins into regulated payment chains, the debate around holding limits and financial stability risks, and the case for a GBP-denominated stablecoin.\n\n🏛️ The BBA continues to monitor parliamentary scrutiny of the UK’s digital asset regulatory framework closely.\n\n✍🏽 Attached is a summary of both sessions, produced by the BBA Advisory Board member, Lewis Rogers.\n\n📍Earlier this year, BBA submitted its comprehensive response to Bank of England's Stablecoin Consultation:\nhttps://lnkd.in/eDeJRDey\n\n------------\n\nEstablished in 2017, BBA is the UK's longest standing industry body advancing evidence-based adoption of Blockchain and Digital Asset Technologies.
