This is an (admittedly pretty rough) example of distraction + payload that typifies many media strategies, especially Anthropic's. You're supposed to argue about or otherwise engage with the distraction while the payload gets accepted by implication, uncontested. In this case, the payload is the idea that AI is a deeply mysterious thing (that is therefore valuable (that is therefore worth a bajillion dollars at IPO)).
AI companies in particular love rolling out the "AI is great and terrible and suuuuuuch a threat! We have to be sooooo careful, guys!", code for "please argue about how great and terrible (and therefore capable (and therefore valuable)) AI is".
