I guess the major exception to the death sentence never being valid when there's enough food, water, etc., is if the crime involved killing people when there wasn't enough food.

If you're doing shit you deserve to die for right now while there's not enough food, but you make sure it's other people instead of you dying, and nobody is able to catch you or stop you until there's enough food for everyone - you should still probably be killed for what you did when there wasn't enough food.

Trump doesn't suddenly upgrade from "deserves to die" to "deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison safely" just because he kills enough other people, and not himself, to still be alive when we get out of global famine.

Other than that, don't really see a situation where a "death sentence" in a world with enough food+water+etc is anything but a special murder method only for retards to use.
