As before, whatever tool gets the job done. You're going to hate this analogy, but oh well.

I might store the bulk of my wealth in gold, for example, with a tier of silver for easy exchange, and fiat paper money for day-to-day transactions since most businesses don't accept direct payments in gold or silver.

In the case of the coins, I might store wealth in Bitcoin, or I might use a balance of Bitcoin with Monero. If a vendor accepts Monero, I'd use it to pay. If they only accept Bitcoin, I'd use it instead. Further, I could potentially even swap some of that into a budgeted fund of Litecoin or BCH for quicker transactions (similar to the silver/paper money use cases in the analogy). Of course, there are services out there such as Cake Pay in Cake Wallet that make it possible to use BTC/XMR to buy digital gift cards to buy from businesses that don't accept any coins.

As I said: I use whatever tool is best for the job and best suits my current use case. "No second best", whether or not it's factually true (I don't believe it is), is a mindset that's both limiting and naive.
