Lightning just has different privacy weaknesses (couple examples; Lightning nodes know tx amounts going through them, Monero nodes do not. Monero tx fees are visible to the public, lightning fees are not.)
I don't understand why you think Liquid is better with less privacy tech. Liquid only hides amounts. Sender and reciever address aren't hidden or even obfuscated.
