It’s interesting you say this because I’m reaching a more nuanced position like this as well. Under the assumption that Bitcoin is “captured” (probably more nuanced than this) I still think it’ll be absorbed into the trad fi system. Which honestly, it would probably still be a very good investment to save yourself from debasement, even for people that just used custodians.
It’s interesting to see the recent BIP110 saga make people think that Bitcoin has now failed at its solution. In my opinion, it failed a while ago. And Monero is the only one that can achieve the cypherpunk wet dream that people discuss. Bitcoin’s multiple layer solution is what screws itself because it will inherently be custodial. People can’t even figure out how to use their credit cards, they won’t run a node and self custody. I think Bitcoin is worth buying still, it just honestly serves a different purpose in my view now, as it failed its main mission quite some time ago.
