A lot of businesses start out with sincere value stories. More begin with bullshit value stories. Either way nobody wants to invest in value when they can get in on a ponzi. So every business gets converted into a ponzi by fiat. This is not a reflection on profit itself but the corrupting effect of cantilon fiat capital flows distorting the function of free competition. The socialist critique of profit is a misdiagnosis. Profit incentivizes value creation, but usury corrupts and short circuits it and incentivizes exploitation and extraction.
