The thing is, I'm not against technology. Technology itself doesn't make us stupid. But the way tech companies design their products? That's where it goes sideways.
Scrolling on your phone for two hours while watching a movie? That's not laziness — that's engineered dopamine addiction. Dark patterns that keep you engaged longer. Algorithms that feed your rage because outrage gets clicks. And they don't care about your mental health or relationships or sleep schedule. They're making billions off your attention at the expense of everything else in your life.
And what do we get back? Filter bubbles, misinformation, polarization. All while being told by these same companies that "we value user privacy" — right after selling all our data to the highest bidder.
At this point, convenience is worth more than autonomy. And attention spans are shrinking because someone else's video got you more engaged than what you were doing before.
