I watched the Jimmy Carr podcast with Triggernometry.
Comedians are often highly intelligent and wrap up controversial views in humour.
Of all the things discussed, I've been thinking of one thing in particular.
The current generation has abandoned drinking for completely valid health reasons, however in the last decade mental health issues have become a major issue.
As an older generation, I didn't drink heavily in my youth, but I did go the the pub several times a week and I still do socialise quite a bit around pubs and restaurants.
Jimmy made a good point. We sacrificed our livers, but we created a strong life long social network (I mean social network in its original physical sense).
The younger generation have improved their physical health, perhaps at the expense of their mental health.
Pubs are social places, there is no modern equivalent.
