There's also the issue of the uncanny valley vis a vis transaction speed an cost. You have the lightning network (or cashu, or spark, or whatever) which is instant and more or less free. And then the slow-churning bitcoin chain.
Faster block proposals usually land smack in the uncanny valley between the two, they are still way too slow and too expensive versus lightning and too much of a trade off the other way.
Even something like Kaspa sits in the uncanny valley to a degree.
People don't want a faster layer 1. They want good layer 2s that are secured by layer 1s that are, well, actually secure.
