Its even worse than that, they don't even question it! They think inflation is caused by "capitalism". What is money is a weird question to ask the average person.
There was experiment I vaguely remember that concluded, most people will only take instructions from an authoritive figure (i.e having uniform, suit, status etc). The fact that most authority figures, influencers, or politicians, never talk about what money, most people will never go there because it was not pointed to them. I find this very fascinating from a psychological perspective.
