So… LG Monitors Install Ads on Your Computer Now

When you connect certain LG monitors to Windows 11, Windows Update quietly installs an "LG Monitor" app that's not for controlling the monitor

— it's just an installer that pushes ads, including big pop-ups for McAfee.

The app gets installed WITHOUT UAC prompts, has broad system permissions, and has started appearing even on monitors bought years ago after recent updates. Macs aren't affected. The presenter recommends the open-source Monitor Control app instead.
