But there is a simple, delicious, and beautiful solution: Select a topping for your potato which will absorb heat as it melts.
For example, chocolate chips. Pour a bag of chocolate chips onto your freshly microwaved potato, and mash them into the potato, and stir. The hot potato should mash and stir easily if it is adequately cooked, and the chips will absorb excess heat, while melting.
