I really want to see the world but I'm certainly never living in a country where I'm not a citizen. Met some of my husband's colleagues who work in the US and oof, the constant fear of losing their job that would lead to a loss of visa. The thought that you'll have to pull your kids out of school, and up and leave whatever life you've built at the drop of a hat if your employer does not want you anymore. I don't think the extra earning potential is worth that stress TBH.

Gardening junta of Mastodon, help me out : I've been terrace gardening for 5ish years now with pots and grow bags. For the first 2 years, I have thriving marigolds and basil plants - but now the seeds of these are just not germinating. I've added homemade compost and I've kept an eye on soil humidity. Ughhhh some parents are WAY too harsh on their kids. One of 'em scored 14/20 on a silly little practice test and her mother is berating her so badly. I had to step in and ask her to cool it.

For an Indian citizen, a UK visa requires you to take a picture of every passport you've ever had, including the blank pages.
US visa requires you to go to stay in a metro City overnight - they take biometrics on day 1 and interview on day 2.
Schengen visa requires you to show hotel bookings for every single day and a six month bank transaction history ( Yes, every single transaction).
All of them require income tax returns for the past three years.

My first trip to the north east. Sikkim and Bhutan were the two princely states of the subcontinent that were never fully colonized (were British protectorates, but not colonies) and the Sikkim prominently lacks all the colonial era architecture that I've come to associate with hill stations. (Simla, for example, had so many relics of the British colonial era). So the vibe is an admixture of Buddhism and Border Roads Organisation. Gangtok was so lovely.

it's just drier, so it doesn't soften so easy. Great for the long cook time recipes. So it can be used in biryanis etc without turning mushy. Personally, I find the smell a tad stronger as well.
