In like 2009 I was on Xbox Live with one of my friends and for whatever reason (big boulder) we were both trying to sing the Indiana Jones theme but neither of us could remember it. We ended up looking it up and then sang it together or whatever
The next day we were playing the same game and the same thing came up and we both forgot it again

Without memes I will tell you what Fortnite is.
Most famously: It's a Battle Royal game. There are various modes of BR you can play this is the most robust mode.
It's a Guitar Hero style game: Fortnite Festival is like Rockband or Guitar Hero. You play as the characters from BR and it's got licensed music (actually good selection too)
It's a Racing game: made by the rocket league team called Rocket Racing. This one is not that good imo.
It's a minecraft survival style game: Fortnite Lego is pretty fun and they have lego versions of every character in Fortnite even the licensed ones
They also have Fortnite CS:GO but I don't think that took off as much
It's a game platform like Roblox where users can make their own games too
