Nice. It's getting harder to find because of course you can prep a big batch of the mayo based lobster salad but it's definitely the right way to do it.

Just wanted to say that while I don't know everything that happens behind closed doors and that it likely was a hard decision, I think you made the honorable call in stepping away from XXI, and can't say I'm surprised you did.
You're a different kind of guy than the people it seemed like you were associated with, and while it never seemed like you'd 'sold out' I'd be lying if I said there were zero concerns about what you'd get put as a face for. Anything you build this way will be on a far stronger foundation. It may (and probably will) be a slower process in some ways, but you're a guy who I know understands the value of a solid foundation whose concrete was given the time it needed to cure (ask @nprofile…49mp about literal concrete to expand the metaphor). And I'm excited to see the structure as it emerges, one block at a time, ready to stand the test of time.

Copilot has told me that my run the other day both did likely help clear up my lungs but also horribly irritated my chest (especially with reduced air quality). Think this means I'm on rest protocol with some thyme tea and honey (and knocking off deep breathing I've been doing which has gotten counterproductive).

My hard is when I'll work out and eat well for awhile so I know how good it feels. And then go a few years letting it all go, so that like today I can go almost die running a single mile. Ffs 6 years ago I was putting in 30k steps a day and 3-4 miles of running was something I'd do out of boredom alongside daily kettlebell swings and getups.
I'm sure I'll whip myself back into shape with some fasting and working out as my kid goes to college -- not my first time getting way into and then way out of shape. At some point perhaps I'll take the hint that its easier to stay in shape than get in shape...
Whatever though. I'm a mess, and I'll just be glad I at least can muster the will to fix the messes I make for myself even if I can't seem to stop making them.

There are different terminals. Handhelds at best require merchant interaction (including employer TIN input first time -- don't hassle your cashier!). The register types with a customer facing screen typically don't.

I decided that running for the first time in years was what I needed to make my lungs open up. Felt like giving up by a third of a mile. By halfway through didn't think I'd make it. By two thirds imagine I'd literally involuntarily stop despite trying to go on (and perhaps land on my face).
By the time I got back to the house I was making some alarming fucking noises. But I finished it running. And as far as I can tell I haven't technically had a heart attack just yet.
I do think my lungs are still tight and sickly despite it all though.
Anyway, if you want music that'll keep you running even if you probably SHOULD stop for health reasons, I highly recommend Eluveitie's Helvetios album. It's about fighting to the last man woman and child in the face of an imperial genocide waged by the Romans. Absolutely beautiful album. If you run yourself to death though it's not my fault; you've been warned.

Is there a reason you're not using a chrooted build environment? Though in fairness that's one of those things I think to do AFTER breaking everything too. Bonus points if you use a loopback filesystem and thus can just keep a clean system copied as a file in case you need to blow away whatever you just broke.
Docker works too but I find docker more convoluted than I care for in most cases.

That all said, I do commend you on the full year, and would caution against just "waiting it out." Enjoy the difficulty of it. Handling anxiety and pressures of life is very similar to any other sort of work out. The more you can embrace the suck and smile at the adversity the easier it gets, but it's also something there are no shortcuts through. It is really easy to go backwards though.
Ever read Aleister Crowley's Diary of a Drug Fiend? Pretty solid read by someone who knew a lot both about accomplishing things and being very dragged down by his habits at times (didn't help that they literally prescribed him heroin for his asthma which he got by doing pranayama).

As someone who's a lot more sober now than I was in the past but not too dogmatic about it...well, idk that I have any good cookie cutter insights to share.
Taking a 100% reprieve has its value for sure if only to let you see where on the spectrum you've been to stop you from lying to yourself and rationalizing (and to reset and consider what your priorities actually are).I would say there's definitely also value in learning to contend with the parts of sobriety that are hard -- sort of like maintaining the ability to talk instead of just being happy to reach for the motorized wheelchair.
But at the end of the day you live by your own scoreboard, not someone else's. "Stop and smell the roses" seems to be a perfectly fine activity -- just maybe don't decide that you live in a rosebush now, because you won't get much done, and those thorns will cause you harm sooner or later.
I do know I'd take 100% sobriety over inebriation 100% of the time. But for now anyway landing somewhere in between is okay with me.

I stand with Bitcoin. Core's governance seems like some issues for them to figure out, but that'll happen any time you get a company involved. I don't think there's anything too nefarious, but systems can evolve problematically even with the best of intentions. The good news is, Core isn't the only game in town.
Just saw Eric Voskuil the other day post a chart about libbitcoin 4's performance on a Raspi 5 compared to Core v31. It's admittedly with txindex=1 and txospenderindex=1 (to match libbitcoin's native functionality with it's mmap approach rather than leveldb), so it's not quite fair to compare to how people usually run Core, but for a raspberry pi I'm pretty surprised.

At the end of the day the gentleman's agreement that was mempool policy filters was never going to last. Filters work when nodes all agree, and miners either agree, or are too decentralized to do anything to override it. As long as something like slipstream is possible, or things like LibreRelay exists, it only makes sense for a default filter policy to be open (and for the configuration to opt-into tighter policy to be available in the name of configurability), because the alternative is leaving node runners with a poor view of what is coming down the pike without any benefit being derived from it.
I've not seen any indication that spam can sustain expensive fees for any prolonged amount of time -- there's just no feedback loop you're going to get from selling dickbutts. People will create it, their sats will be gone, and that is that. Bitcoin is stronger than this, and certainly doesn't need to be getting dragged into this silly game of whackamole over the games of trifling fools.

It might not work as well as I hope. Going for apple pie, but yea, the textures may be entirely wrong. Also very much depends on the cider used. We have some good local unfiltered cider that has some nice spiced variants that I think could work without the added whiskey.
Maybe best to just have a milkshake and a slice of pie.

I've been trying to get my head around what it's doing for bitcoin there. Because pretty much anything except ecash (be it cashu or fedimint) is gonna be offline if the internet's offline. Technically they're offline too but you can at least exchange ecash in a higher trust manner while awaiting it coming back online. Looking at github though I didn't see mention of cashu; just Breez.
Not that cashu needs to be built into something to be transacted over it, as we've seen time and again with Bitchat. I've even sent cashu inside an emoji over bluetooth mesh on bitchat...

I suspect you may not be the most familiar with the buddhist concept of anatta, or 'not-self.'
Curious if you've encountered Thich Naht Hanh's book Living Buddha, Living Christ. He was a pure land buddhist, not Zen, but they share more in common than what differs.
It's true they don't talk about God, but when you're constantly peeling away that which appears to be self...idk man, I think there's more similarities that look different due more to matters of language than substance.
Trappings of course vary, but trappings are hardly unique to anu one traditon. Arguably these are the graven images we're warned about anyway.
Not saying go be a Zen monk of course. In most cases it makes sense to find your way in the tradition you're familiar with culturally, rather than being a religious tourist. I find it helpful to be able to speak to someone in the spiritual language they understand though.

It doesn't do that though either. Taproot is still around, just with a couple almost arbitrary limitations on tapscript which demonstrably don't stop ordinals, runes, or other data pushes. Nor should it, I'd argue, as Schnor signatures were a good addition. Tapscript probably should have at least been deliberated a bit longer -- I'd happily give it all up for CTV.
It does seem to line Kratter's pockets though to make people feel like they're doing something.

I'm being a bad influence but a milkshake with bourbon and bitters and a cherry on top (what a pub I used to frequent called an 'Old Fashioned milkshake') sort of meets those two ideas in the middle.
Great for when you want a milkshake by need more calories in it and wanna assault your liver too!

They are much more fiscally responsible than most countries. Having no military helps make that doable (though does raise questions about potential defense needs -- I don't recall much gun ownership for militia style defenses). I noticed a lot of people willing to work hard but also generally having much more of an attitude of abundance. Not the neurotic 'I need to work hard to have more' so much as 'I will work because I want a strong family and community.'
That slight shift in attitude can make for a hugely different set of results.
And of course, maybe I'm romanticizing. I was last there in the 90's as a teenager and obviously could only see what I saw. But we did get around a bit and it felt pervasive.

I very much appreciate the invite and will have to visit but we're thinking more Vermont or New Hampshire.
I am gonna have to figure out how I'll Bitdevs though. They do seem more in cities and I'm so spoiled being close to MIT here. Might just need to be a long drive every month or two. I like the merchant oriented Bitcoin meetups but need my fix of cryptographic explanations that make my head spin from time to time.
I should be volunteering to help organize more -- maybe I can just try to make a new one happen. Just dubious about how many folks I'd find on that wavelength when they're not where the tech companies are. I know people live around, but they sort of have to be clustered for in person meetups...
