1. ah yes the 25 000 verified games on the steam deck don't actually work valve just manage to talk people into believing it does. my own library of almost 1000 games also does not work i just stare at the screen and imagine playing.
2. no very much not. emulation tries to emulate original behavior 1:1. if you look at console emulation you need many times more of the original hardware power to get similar performances. meanwhile translation directly takes syscalls and can hand them over directly without performance hit. that is why permanence can be better with wine that native.
3. these "hacks" are build into wine or proton and over time will not even be needed to be applied manually. they are already a minority and will continue to be fixed.
4. again. it works so well it can work better than native. btw you can run them without GNU in linux too. so stay mad
