I did that for a while. Didn't seem to do much but attract spam accounts.
So I became more discerning.
Now I play a fun game with myself as to how big my invitations list gets too.
Currently I'm at 24.
I think it got up to 80 at one point.

it's a fair point.
I'm thinking that it's Microsoft so it looks a bit Windows like, a bit Visual Studio, a bit like Office.
Nothing so distinct from everything else it's completely unfamiliar.

someone who is new, unquestionably VS Code.
It would be the most familiar experience.
Yes, you could say Codium or Sublime.
But it just makes things more complicated.
And VS Code has a lot of support out there, so fixing or finding instructions for things is easy.
This is from someone who is still bitter about the Atom being EOL

one of the things that bothers me about clearance, that I don't think is recognised enough, is how much clearance dictates the sorts of people who apply and get cleared.
Without identifying that weakness it will lead to less diversity and more group think.
