The masses are still there. The platforms are ubiquitous and a listener expection.
Some quite major artists have pulled their music from Spotify before and not moved the needle so indie artists are really up against it.

My experience publishing music via RSS is probably 95% of boosts are from the same group of less than 10 people immediately after I announce a new release or autoboosts when it get played on a music show.

I don't know if others have the same experience or not.
Everything I have been boosted I boost back into the music economy. I want to help support and grow this alternative.
I haven't been very successful onboading listeners and it seems most bitcoiners aren't interested in financially supporting musicians embracing the fairer alternative system - they are happy pay their Spotify subscription because they get value from the platform itself.

Yes, Wavlake publish RSS to the index (which is great) but they don't show any external RSS content within the Wavlake app (which kinda sucks).
In this context though, it's mostly that Wavlake is a middleman so no direct payment to artists via RSS like @nprofile…5rlm mentioned above.
I thought that might have been what your comment was about but I maybe I got it wrong? If so, sorry for the confusion.

Not exactly true.
But if you consider the amount of new music released anywhere online, the human/AI ratio is probably similar.
You could also say Spotify is all AI if it wasn't for the decades of back catalogue. It's not a problem exclusive to nostr.

I use Fountain primarily for the built-in wallet. I don't have the means to pay for Alby or run my own wallet.
I'm generally on the go so auto-downloads for offline listening is also must for me.
Hope they fix the broken chapters asap 🙏

I'm switching between 4 different nostr client apps and I find notes that are completely abscent in others. And it's not consistent which apps miss notes or show notes missing in the others.

Some thoughts fwiw...
I haven't found a decent implementation of being notified when an artist they follow releases something new. This is a real shortcoming compared to legacy platforms. (That, and new music discovery).
When an artist receives a boost it's generally a one-way transaction because the only identifier is a lnurl.
Some apps can generate a nostr note automatically when you boost, which is great promotion, by it also links the booster npub. What's missing is notifying the artist.
Tagging the artist in the note would give them the opportunity to say thanks and interact directly.
You can include npub in the RSS feed (MSP2.0 has this option) but I don't think apps are using it yet.
I'm wondering if "Nostr music" might be the ultimate solution, where development seems more rapid and flexible than podcasting2.0?

I'd argue that even before AI, barriers were essentially nonexistent.
Take music for an example...
Most already have access to a phone or computer that is just as capable (or even more-so) as a multimillion $ studio 20 years ago. Gatekeepers aren't necessary for distribution. Even the cheap mass-produced toy instruments can sound fantastic.
Everyone has the potential of playing an instrument and writing music. It's just a matter of effort. There are exactly zero excuses.
