USDC on base seems far more common for 402 payments now than Bitcoin. Recently, even Stripe joined the bandwagon. That’s a centralized stablecoin on a permissioned chain. Agents are starting to use fiat. It’s a huge loss, and in a race, many aren’t even aware that it exists.
The scam coins are marching on, and even fiat is evolving.
Where are the Bitcoin solutions that attract real users? Which other concept other than buying and selling Bitcoin has actually broken out of the bubble and made it to the mainstream?
Bitcoin doesn’t just happen. These missing solutions need to be built by someone. Reject the “Bitcoin wins by hodling” narrative. The devs and entrepreneurs are what keep this project alive and keep marching forward.
It’s not the scammy influencers, not the psychotic drama queens, the child-like infighting, or incompetent idiots dancing on the graves of word-class devs leaving Bitcoin.
I hope the bear market flushes all that crap away, and we can get back to building stuff instead of tearing it down.

nice ux improvement for restoring ecash wallets from seed: cashu.me now stores your mint list on nostr. when you restore, all mints magically reappear.
old users need to enable it manually: settings > privacy > backup mint list on nostr
new users get this by default.

you’d have to be more precise to be able to answer this question. if you run your own cln node, you have great privacy. if you use phoenix, they know all of your payments.

at a cypherpunk conference. some thoughts:
- interesting humans with many different backgrounds: hacktivists, cryptographers, civil society activists, infrastructure guys, electronic voting people, vpn people, tor devs, solarpunks, radio comms, file sharing, internet archive, general freedom tech, and many more.
- bitcoin is mentioned all the time but there are practically no bitcoiners in sight. I'm the bitcoin guy now.
- everyone knows about nostr. people are very interested in it. maybe 2-3 nostr users are here, no devs. many people representing bluesky. I'm the nostr guy now.
- many people know about cashu and bitchat. lots of excitement.
- many synergies, lots of groups and companies working together. the urgency is obvious. cypherpunk vibes are strong.
verdict: bitcoin and nostr are severely under-represented in communtities where a lot of important work is done. shitcoin phobia isn't a good reason to not engage in a much larger discourse about privacy, freedom, and technology. we haven't lost the plot but have a lot more to do.

good question but no this is part of the xx pattern. you have ephemeral keys and static keys, the static ones can be used for authentication. the ephemeral keys are different for each session.
the protocol refreshes sessions every x messages so you'll only be able to decipher messages until then.

It has nothing to do with locking ecash but with the mints you use. Ecash today is used whenever a user would otherwise have a balance (mining, API access tokens, Internet access credit, custodial wallets). Nothing changes in terms of trust. It adds privacy and other features to these systems.
