Sythentic "kratom" is not kratom and synthetic THC is not marijuana, but the association is unavoidable.
Natural kratom is a useful and safe herbal remedy for pain that reduces the need for opiates. My wife and I have both used it for years to manage chronic pain. It has been a great boon.
Florida took a middle road between the two extremes - they banned the dangerous synthetic "kratom" and the natural kratom leaf remains legal. I think this is a good compromise.

As someone who got his first computer 3000 years ago (1980s), I am amazed at how cheap storage is now.
Memory is also dropping in price, but storage is dirt cheap. Everything from USB sticks to hard drives with huge capacities are going for chump change.
2TB hard drives for under $100 seems nuts to a guy whose first 20mb (MEGABYTE!) mechanical HDD was part of a $1000 IBM 8088 desktop machine.

We still have power. Gusts about 50 mph (80 kph) at the house. Moderate rain, but nothing torrential yet. It's more wind than rain right now. A tornado briefly spun up around Sarasota about an hour ago.
I think my neighborhood has seen the worst. Lower areas closer to the water are going to flood overnight when the wind shifts direction to onshore.

Weather is gusty and rainy, but nothing worse than typical summer thunderstorms. That will begin to change in a few hours.

We're northeast of Tampa on high ground that is well inland. We're stocked up and in storm mode until it passes. It's not expected to get bad here, but Tallahassee and the panhandle might be fucked.
Weather will deteriorate overnight and hopefully the forecast track doesn't move towards us.
I'll be tooting updates until it passes.

Look, I get it. Sighted people think this is a pain in the ass, especially for wordy memes or other images that might require a lengthy detailed description.
But, put yourself in the position of a person who is visually-impaired. It's already a pain in the ass for them to use an internet that largely ignores their needs. So, just take a minute (or less) to add ALT text.

I think for me, the site is tainted by association with Dorsey. I don't see him as any better than Musk, he's just a different flavor of billionaire that shouldn't exist.
Sure, Dorsey might not be as straight-up evil or mind-numbingly ignorant as Musk, but he knowingly sold Twitter to somebody who couldn't be trusted with it.
He knew there was a high chance that Musk would gut his creation and transform it into something horrible while denying it's use to marginalized people.

I've been thinking about the word "enshittification" lately.
Using this term without the proper context lets greedy corporations off the hook.
This process of everything going to shit is not some inevitable force of nature. It's an entirely man-made and avoidable situation.
Let's call enshittification what it really is.
