Random thought. Sure there are no algorithms to herd us into us vs. them but we still self-select into groups. OTH communication is important. I am reminded of Meghan Phelps.

Unfortunately that is very hard on the starter, the transmission (ECM/TCM has to put it into neutral before start), the engine itself. But yes ICE can do it but at a cost an EV as you drive is much better.

No a VW beetle is not great for a modern family with a stroller but great for empty nesters and young students perhaps. Have you seen how much they have increased the size of sedans? Do they still make sedans!? The auto industry is trying to convince us (in advertising) we all really want to destroy streams with a pickup truck and drive SUVs and then complaining about EVs when these ads don't work. Also emissions standards are relaxed for truck (U.S.) which a SUV is classified as.

To be clear, I am not trying to reverse blame here. As a bicyclist I am very aware how bad some drivers are. I guess with e-scooters the e-scooter rider is not used to having to watch for bad drivers as well. We need safer streets as well. Still I know as a bicyclist that I could take a tumble without being hit by a car and I want my helmet on.
