I hate this timeline.
As a long time #climate campaigner... I almost feel like I should be hoping that the Iran/US war continues as long as possible so the price of oil and gasoline can go as high as possible and force economies to electrify and shift at emergency-speed to renewables.
We could have started on this the easy way 30 years ago... but a few of the same people objected and obstructed.

I am so sad and annoyed this morning.
They are topping more trees in Cathedral Grove.
The place that was literally shown to the world during the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Olympics now has dozens of headless 30-50ft tall, 300 year old, stumps.
Because “safety”, I assume.
There has been a road through this park for 100 years, but it took until the 2020s for someone to decide there were “danger trees”.
We’re all idiots.
I am going to try to take a picture this morning of the new cuts but it is all blocked off as they work so it will be hard or impossible. I’ll do my best.
What are we doing. Why are we like this? 😢
The photo is from earlier this year. Most of the headless trees are along the road, but not all. This shows one along the walking path.

It's official! This Sunday will be the last "leap forward" in BC!
As of next November, the Vancouver time zone in British Columbia, Canada will be referred to as "Pacific Time" and will be -7GMT permanently. (same as Yukon Territory which did this 2 years ago)
The presser was pretty cute actually. They had kids with little clocks, and they danced.
I would have preferred staying at Standard Time, but this will be ok too. It's interesting that Premier Eby made a point of (gently, as there were kids) insisting the delay of 6 years since the overwhelming survey response from British Columbians to eliminate the time change was due to waiting for the US West Coast states to do the same.
Now, BC has decided to push, and to lead by example.

Edmonds told CBC News she weeps for all the people affected by the tragedy that unfolded in Tumbler Ridge, including Strang.
Edmonds says she watched the single mother, who she said worked long shifts at a nearby mine, fight to help her child.
Edmonds says at one point, Van Rootselaar tried to light a mattress on fire "and burn the house down." She said the teen had been hospitalized several times with mental health issues.

TIL: DeHavilland Dash 8 aircraft have a much larger range than I thought. Just noticed an Air Canada Jazz flight from Vancouver to Winnipeg (JZA7110). That's about 1900km.
I look because turbo-props like the DH8 (aka Q400) are more fuel efficient and have lower CO2 emissions than jets. They also fly lower, generally around 20 - 25,000ft, so lessen the stratospheric pollution vs. 30-40,000ft.

That last bit from Trump on the final question asked… which was about Putin… was maybe the most dark. He is unhappy with Putin. He is unhappy that he hasn’t stopped the war in Ukraine. He said if the US Military was involved it would have stopped that war.
His body language and the way he spoke makes me think he feels like he now has one up on Putin. He might think he is more powerful than Putin.
This feels much much more dangerous.
