That said, proprietary software developers aren't enslaving anyone, they are giving you a bad offer and it's your job to reject it.
If I offer you a bad deal and you accept, that's on you. I can offer to buy your hose for 1 euro. You can (and should) reject that offer.
There is at least one way proprietary software companies do "enslave" users: through education. Hence why I think education institutions, both public and private (but especially public) have a moral obligation (and should have a legal obligation) to reject proprietary software.

Personally I've never agreed with this.
I think a contract-based moral approach makes more sensible here. Proprietary software isn't immoral if all parties accept the situation willingly. However, accepting such a contract is bad for you, the user, and bad for society if many people do, so don't. You aren't worse off than if the developer hadn't developed it at all.
I think proprietary software is, however, immoral in public/governmental institutions and in education.

Quantum physics is unquestionably both real and incomplete (and probably at least partially incorrect), the scientific and engineering community has produced far too much evidence for it to not be "real".
The multi-world interpretation is also nowhere near close being the only one, nor the most prominent one among physicists.
There is also no such thing as a human playing with jumping from one quantum state to another. That's wowo nonsense. It has nothing to do with actual physics.

Usually those who hypothesize we are in a simulation mean the whole of our universe and the whole of us is running on some kind of computer and we don't exist in any physical sense in base reality.

That was spam too, but there is a big difference.
The Reply Guy was easy to detect with 100% accuracy, through a hand-written filter.
Some used a less precise filter based on the string "reply guy", rather than the full content for the post, but a perfect filter was possible.
Even later bots, like the one that scrambled the post it was replying to, instead of copying it, were easy to detect algorithmically. I still have those filters active.
These new bots are not easy to detect programmatically.

I think Nostr doesn't need more idiots.
The only thing more detrimental to social media than economic incentives for microposts are bots.
Nostr is already riddled with bots and with a cultish mentality for more than one type.
I don't know what that would look like, but we need Nostr apps that would bring better users in, not just more.

We don't have a legal non-GPL Blender alternative, with the same level of functionality, and as good as it, do we?
Blender uses the GPL so that it stays free and open source software. Copyright is owned by contributors and this reassures everyone that the program will stay free.
Of course, you may point out the Blender Foundation is a non-profit, not a company and surely not a start-up. But, in most instances, software freedom is not the way to go when maximizing profit and hasn't been for decades.
When software freedom, not money, is the goal, free software licenses make sense. And while I'm not a huge fan of copyleft, sometimes the GPL makes sense.

Sometimes it may write the script to drop a database instead, or do anything else. Seldom.

I never said generated software couldn't be helpful, so I don't know what you're even trying to reply to. It is a statistical interpolation of existing code, however, and the range of possibilities is limited by that distribution, as you'd know if you knew how neural networks work.
A computational idea isn't an idea about a new app, for fuck's sake. The vast majority of apps never require any novel computational ideas, not in the last few decades.
And low-quality code can obviously be helpful if it runs correctly. It slowly deteriorates the whole system as it gets bigger and its role becomes more central, but it will at least appear useful in the meanwhile.

But you can't read it, you said it yourself.
It's not a new way to write code, it's a new way to be illiterate while reusing other's code, sometimes a bit scrambled and patched here and there.
Which is fine, I use software libraries all the time, which I didn't write, I just don't pretend I'm their author (except when I actually am).
If you cannot *think* in code you literally cannot have many computational ideas that those who do write code can have.
The "new way" you are referring to is by writing in natural language, is it not? Many ideas are much easier to describe in code than they are in natural language. You wouldn't know or understand this because you can't have such ideas. It's those who do have such ideas that move software forward, not those who build the next app none asked for on top of them.
Even without new computational ideas, if you cannot read code, you cannot asses its quality. You can, of course, see that a program appears to behave as intended, but that's not the same as its codebase being a high-quality one. It especially isn't when it comes straight from a slopbot.

What used to be native apps are now written in Rust, including elements of operating systems.

I suspect they might be more willing to pay than regular users, not less.
Spammers buy bulks of email addresses, or spend money on other shady shit. They pay to spam.
The willingness of someone to pay isn't an indication of legitimacy.
But the pay-to-register, rather than pay-to-post, just might work (since you can block bots manually at that point). PoW, however, would be the only way to verify such payments.
Otherwise I'd have to trust relays to perform verification. If I trusted relays I wouldn't need Nostr.

Having a bot write code on your behalf is a terrible way of getting that education.
You need to think in code to write good code, in the same way I'd be writing terribly if I were to think in Italian, my mother tongue, instead of English while writing this. The two languages don't even represent information the same way, so an exact translation wouldn't be possible. I have to think in English.
Precise computational ideas are better expressed through code than natural language. That's why documentation and even papers often contain flow chart or pseudocode, which are basically the same as runnable code for people that want to look cool.
Formal languages aren't harder than natural language. Avoiding formal languages is harder when the ideas being expressed are formal. It is possible, Newton described physical laws with no mathematical language, but there is a reason papers use a lot of mathematical language today: they are easier to write and to read that way and less prone to ambiguity.
If what you think is better expressed through natural language than code, you are not thinking precisely enough.
A programmer doesn't have to ever be a "professional", at all. Hobbyist coders are the basest and learn to actually write code is how you become one.

Others can also broadcast your events, signed by you, once they receive them and, canonically, reposts have a full stringified copy of your original event as their content.
It's not that you can never delete an event. It's that anyone at all can prevent you from doing so and you can never know for sure your event has been deleted everywhere.
