Asked my barber if I could pay in bitcoin and got the classic combo of "isn't it too late to invest" and "doesn't Trump have one of those?". Tried to tell him it's just money, but his eyes glazed over. He only accepts cash, so thought he might be more receptive.
More and more convinced after interactions like this that most people can't be orange pilled. They will do what everyone else does. Bitcoin needs to be used by bitcoiners, and available to those who want it - but we won't convince even close to a small minority. That's fine as long as we can preserve the ability to spend and save with sovereignty.

I want open source models to win, but worth being realistic. Today the US closed frontier models are MUCH better when looking at more realistic metrics like task time horizon.
For example, while other benchmarks show Kimi K2 and Opus 4.5 (both released November 2025) as being quite close on some indexes, the task length they can complete correctly 50% of the time is very different. 1 hour for Kimi, but 5 hours for Opus.
Some of this may be due to better harnesses for the US closed models, but that's material edge.

Lol, managed to convince myself of a conspiracy theory that ties together two somewhat nonsensical behaviours of large AI companies:
1. Spending way more than seems possible to get a return on
2. Continually talking up how dangerous they themselves are
They're basically stuck. On one hand they have to spend as much as their competitors in case scaling laws continue, and they're able to keep monetising their AI (but this is not certain) and not fall behind. On the other hand they may have massively over-invested and could lose everything if things slow down or the market turns. So what should they do as rational actors?
Make people maximally scared (based on real concerns, so this isn't exactly baseless FUD), and then lobby governments into buying into them for the sake of redistribution from the rewards of AI labour - an easier short term path than a hostile government takeover that risks the US losing the AI race to China. This is both in the form of a huge government stake, but will be sold as "universal basic capital" (UBC) giving equity to the masses.
This strategy of UBC is actually proposed by two Deepmind economists on the recent Dwarkesh podcast, and they seem to indicate it's the preferred outcome.
The result for Deepmind (Google), Open AI etc. is that they retain a lot of control, get a huuuge low risk pay day, are no longer at risk of hostile state takeover, and all their stakeholders (e.g. researchers who go on effective altruism podcasts) feel good about themselves like they've achieved the right outcome for humanity.
The result for us masses is that we will be stuck holding the bag of the debt governments incurr to make this deal. And the government will then also have an incentive to make it look like a good deal, so they will actively encourage economic destruction to ensure more of the economy is represented by the UBC.
Further implications here are making my head explode, but owning unconfiscateable hard money seems like a reasonable strategy for plebs.

What's your approach?
Agree it's critical to help teach children - for their own sake. Have been trying a mixture of rewards and counting with time outs for our 4 year old. Sometimes my instinct is to shout at her 😅 But I think that probably models bad behaviour, so I resist.

I always like the Robinson Crusoe economic analysis tool. What happens when there is only one economic actor, then two, then threw etc. Useful for understanding trade and comparative advantage and the benefits of specialisation etc.
May also be useful to understand the impact of AI. What do the islanders now do when no one has to do book keeping, or manage customer service, or code the apps? What happens when only one islander can do all of these things - can he then demand more output from the others? What if another islander can also do all the computer work?
I think the equilibrium is people demanding more luxury/leisure goods and services, and more people providing these. Builders, landscapers, cooks, childcare etc. But also more and more novel needs in the digital sphere. Basically we can't know, but the one constant is insatiable human desire.

This is both less sinister, and more evil than it sounds.
Not that sinister and to be expected: Au10tix is just doing standard KYC with the data that the user gives X (and that they agree in ToS to share with 3rd parties). This goes into an automated process to search Google and process results to form a risk rating (maybe to limit reach or ensure X is not violating some type of national law). It's not Israeli intelligence officers sitting there googling people.
More evil: Even people who supposedly care about being anon are willingly handing this info over in order to chase clout on X. The system forces X to do this and KYC is just accepted. Yes it's a honeypot, everyone knows it's a honeypot, but many just do it because they've been conditioned over decades to do so and trust big tech.

I must be retarded because I'm trying to set up OpenClaw with @nprofile…aw3u and I've been stuck twice so far:
1. Need a credit card since Clawi doesn't accept Bitcoin (which is weird given it was built by @nprofile…rzrk). Paid some crazy premium for a privacy.com card, so solved that.
2. Apparently you also need to do a credit card IDV for a Brave browser API key - currently looking for a workaround, da fuq? Obvs not Clawi's fault but seems pretty unreasonable since it's the default search API OpenClaw wants to use.
Is everyone else just doxxing themselves?
Should have just set this up manually with an anon VPS but was lazy :/
(Also failed at setting up a telegram link - never used telegram so maybe it's me, but got the pairing key etc. and it failed - still need to solve this, although hoping I can get my bot to do White Noise)

Seems more and more likely that AI is going to have a large short term disruptive impact on employment. This will lead to panic - I'm already seeing it from normie white collar job friends who think they'll be unemployed in a year and are making big decisions factoring this in.
I honestly don't know what the fuck will happen and I'll probably panic too.
But you know who will really panic? Governemnts. And they will both feed off and feed into the panic. The most obvious thing people will demand is guaranteed income and more welfare to protect them - I think even normies will realise AI is too powerful to simply regulate.
This will lead to money printing. And this will happen before AI has a chance to grow the economy enough (i.e. pay the national debt from more taxes paid by Google and OpenAI).
I don't know if Bitcoin goes higher in this scenario, but it increasingly looks like the one thing that can't be fucked with.

Pretty sure sound money is a timeless narrative that we don't need to dilute. Some people get it now, others will learn the hard(er) way.
If you want something short term then feel free to push the robot payments narrative.

Used Cursor to make a small change PR to my company's app. Took quite a few iterations of it being retarded until it did what I sort of wanted. Still needed an engineer to help figure out why it wasn't able to make the exact change I needed, and then to help correct all the deployment tests that my change broke.
Probably was a really bad example of AI coding prowess, but seemed to confirm my intuition that these tools will be complements and not substitutes for software development.

Elon is both the best bullshitter AND the most impressive entrepreneur in history. It's wild how he can make any conversation seem simple and accessible and still challenges people who are extremely specialised in an area. He says stuff that is truly imaginative and makes it sound obvious (e.g. all compute will be in space in 5-10 years). A lot is likely oversold but there's an element of vision that will transpire and pushes things forward. Actually incredible to be alive to see it and even have him explain things on podcasts.
(This is a completely separate observation from his ethics in various domains - I think the above is true regardless of other conclusions you make about him)

A good portion of my Bitcoin is worth 0, regardless of the price, unless we have ways to spend. Fortunately many places do accept it, and Bitrefill is indespenaible to me but these are not guaranteed. Even today it's much harder to use Bitcoin for some transactions such as putting down a deposit for a home - both the exchange (even hardcore bitcoiner ones) need to know where funds originated, and most solicitors refuse to do a source of funds check for it.
If you actually care about the value of your Bitcoin (i.e. what you can buy with it) then adoption is far more important than any arbitrary narrative about price. Zero times anything is zero.
