I’m torn — I'm super tempted to make that ours for this weekend (it's my turn to pick), but C$25 to rent… oof.
Edit: I could just buy it for C$30, of course… but I don't buy many movies anymore — not at full price, anyway.

I would actually love to get some design work done, but honestly I'm facing my own headwinds that make viability beyond a year out questionable, so I can't really afford to.
I need to diversify, but so many ideas I would otherwise pursue are just as vulnerable. Which sucks, because at this point I'm probably unhireable — not that it matters, I'd hate going back to a corporate job.

There are a handful of high profile examples that make people think most indies/small co’s are making lots of money, but the reality is most of us are making just enough to get by doing something we love — or have some other job to sustain us.
For what it's worth, I backed Tapestry (is there a way to subscribe while being a backer?), subscribe to Wallaroo, and recently bought xScope again (for some reason I had the app store version)

My time and energy — both mental and physical — is precious, and I need to be using things that both fit my needs with a minimum of effort, and are appealing to me.
For me personally, that means primarily apps that are macOS-only, so that’s what I use.
I've plenty of admiration for anyone living the OSS life and working on improvements, especially everyday, non-computer-savvy-user-facing ones, but it's not for me.

I was perhaps a little unfair in that characterization, but here's where I'm coming from: I've used Linux in one way or another for a *long* time, 31 years to be precise. And I believe OSS is important, critical even, to the overall ecosystem.
But I’m at a point in my life where I don’t want to just limp along, especially for things I do almost every day.

I wouldn’t even mind that so much, except so much of the new stuff is buggy or worse in some way.
(I’ve pretty much given up on them ever meaningfully improving notifications, for example.)
Still better than Windows. And some Linux distros are quite nice, but the apps… <shudder>

My impression, not based on first hand experience, is that it’s “better”, but mostly more of the same.
*”better” by Microsoft’s definition, but as far as I can see it’s mostly just AI stuff and surface level. Oh, and ads.

I acquired a passing familiarity with 10 through helping my dad, but it was always disorienting.
One of these days I need to finish clearing off his laptop so it can be repurposed.
