Recently, in retaliation for the danger cars parked in bike lanes put me in, I've started slapping at those parked cars' wing mirrors. Mostly with the intention of causing them some modicum of inconvenience (having to wind down their window to put it back) for the inconvenience (at best)/ danger (at worst) they have put me in.
Again, parked cars. They're in no danger. They're not even using the mirrors because they're stationary.

it can be a really fantastic sport, I’m sure you’d enjoy it. I instructed some adult courses before and they tend to be good craic since everyone’s chosen to be there. The same’s not necessarily true with kids and teens 😅

they’re fun boats! Where did you learn? I lived in Wicklow until relatively recently and learned to sail there. I came up in plastic, beginner-friendly, dinghies but did sail a Laser Radial later, when more of my peers dropped off and it was harder to get crew for two-handed dinghies.

Different classes have more sail area, but the Laser is a single-handed boat while there’s helm and crew on the skiff and multihull boats, as well as trapeze lines to help combat the sail area in reasonable or high winds. The teamwork, extra sails, and trapeze mean that the other classes are actually rather different and weight may not be a primary consideration in selecting a class to specialise in. 2/2

they don’t divide further. For the dinghy class events, the boat is a Laser which comes in Full Size, Radial, and 4.7 sizes. The smallest is a kid-sized sail, really. The women sail Radial, and the men full size. 1/2

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but is the question *why* are there men's and women's events instead of a joint event?
If that is the question, in some (if not all?) of the events, the sail area differs between the two. Men are given boats with bigger sails that can be difficult to keep down below a certain body weight, where women have sails that favour people who are lighter, and possibly less tall too. The hulls are the same, but the mast and sail have a big impact and are different.

it’s shocking to me when people give out about immigrants or people of colour to one of either group. I can never tell if they think the person speaks on behalf of the “group” or if they think they’re speaking to “one of the good ones” that they don’t have a problem with.
