Have you ever seen a ghost mushroom? Utilising bioluminescence, one of nature's coolest phenomenon, these glow for several nights once they bloomed and can be quite bright! This patch was bright enough for me to read my wristwatch by their light only.

When the sky went BOOM! We had some recent storms in my area with the most lightning strikes I've ever seen. Easily the best storm we've had in terms of a light show in the last two decades. I managed to get around to the side of it to take some shots.
This is what happened over a 10 minute period at the peak of the storm. Bolts coming down at crazy intervals in multiples with flashes of lighting crawling across the sky. Mind blowing how many sky to ground strikes there were!

Adult Lily walker/Jesus bird. Check out the size of those feet! I also love the colour around the eyes. Very cool birds, and a lot of fun to watch as they walk around the lily pads.

I spent ages checking out this baby Jacana and it's sibling. Incredible birds, they're also known as lily walkers or jesus birds due to having huge feet that allow them to walk amongst the lilies with ease.

The Lagoon. To take this shot I had to tie my light cube up to a string line and drop it in to illuminate the rock pool. It's a commonly swam in spot at low tide, and people often jump off the rock to the left in to this deep rock pool. A local hidden gem 👌 💎

One of my highlights of a recent trip to Darwin, Australia, was getting to do some astrophotography by the giant termite mounds. These things are incredible! Towering above me, it's mind boggling that they were built by tiny little ants. They can grow past 4m (!!!) and survive for over 100 years. Amazingly a 2m mound can be created in as little as 5 years, in which time the termites may shift as much as a quarter of a tonne of soil and several tonnes of water. 😯
This huge one lined up perfectly with the Milky Way core, which was super visible in the darkness of the Northern Territory.

Hi #nostr, can anyone help me out please? I'm trying to figure out how to get myself nostr verified and have the domain be my website which is a squarespace hosted one. I've looked at the online tutorials which all talk about creating a json file to upload but don't believe squarespace allow this. Is there any way to have my verified address be @rwphotos.com.au?

This was earlier in the year in May, strongest event we've had down south in 30 years. Absolutely incredible experience, you could see full colour with the naked eye dancing around everywhere. At one point it looked like dawn was breaking with how bright it was 😍

I think it's the detail one would normally skip over that we as photographers have the ability to draw the eye to. Whether that be with zoom, use of lines/patterns, use of light or use of angles. Here's a mundane field of hay bales that I thought looked very interesting from a different perspective. I'll go in reverse order;
- nostr isn't like an app that's controlled by a company. It's a protocol and anyone can build on it. So it's impossible to ban, it'd be at best a game of whack a mole
- agree, not yet the same volume. But things can grow very fast in this digital age.
- banks can block access yet people are still finding ways. At the moment, not all banks have blocked access, credit unions allow access and some companies have ways that allow you to transfer without banks knowing what the transfer is for. There's also local or p2p ways to transact
- as for the ATO, if you have a bitcoin economy things may change but for now there are still plenty of options (eg/ you can get tax free loans out against your btc if you want to "cash" some out)

I feel you. I have the same struggles with my photography - I've been winning awards and every art show I get I get people coming up to me and saying how one of my pieces was their favourite, even won a people's choice award at a big show recently, but can't seem to translate that in to sales. I don't spend much time marketing myself and have never been good at it. I just hope my work continues to speak to people and they enjoy it and hopefully with time it grows.

This was on the Corroboree billabong just past the Adelaide river. I went with a wildlife guide who took me in what was basically a 4.5m tinny. After the tour he told me a story that about 25 years ago the rangers had to track down and shoot a big croc after it had tipped over 4 or 5 tinnys with fishermen in it. So glad he told me that after the tour and not during 😂

Totally surreal experience having a 6m croc following us in a boat just over half that size. I never appreciated before that moment just how massive they can get, and just how fast they can move.
The north of Australia is such a beautiful, but wild, part of the world.
