You might want to take a better look at Christian Eschatology beyond the modern American context.
None of the positions, so far as I've seen, would support a mentality of giving up because God will sort it out.
If amillennialism is correct then we are likely experiencing the great apostasy and more people will abandon the faith in the face of comfort and persecution. This shouldn't surprise anyone who has actually read the Bible as it clearly tells us that being faithful will not be easy, things will get worse the closer to the end we get, and that only God will determine when the end is.
Also, neither of your positions are workable for actual Christians. What is actually needed is for Christians to take their faith seriously and act like Christians. Many churches will continue to fade away some because no one cared to keep them alive, but the Church will endure until the end.

The trees and such are Lutheran in origin from memory, so Germanic but certainly Christian. Gift giving is right there in the Gospel narrative so I've got no issue with just saying it's all 100% Christian.
Easter is and has always been Christian but it's been watered down in the modern age. Still Christian though.
