Last Notes npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I have been super busy with my local business and work. This July was a good month for sales and service, the best I can remember having since working solo. Sorry I haven't been posting much. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I do like ThinkPad. I've been refurbishing and selling them for probably about 15 years now (or longer). Typing this note from a ThinkPad laptop with Artix Linux (and LXqt) now. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I sold two laptops with Linux last Friday. Things are looking like I'll be selling a laptop and a desktop with Linux on them tomorrow (ThinkPad and ThinkCentre) to someone new to Linux. Refurbished by me, of course. #Linux npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I am really liking LXQt - lex-cute - desktop. The defaults are just below desirable, but with just a bit of customizing LXQt is really good. So it is not as polished visually and features "out of the box" as Cinnamon desktop is, but it is much lighter on resources and is customizable in the ways that I'd like. Wish I'd tried it sooner... but maybe it really hadn't found its current form until recently. #Linux #LXQt npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Midori has been around forever, so built on a solid base. I haven't yet used the current version, but I plan to soon. So I am guessing that is is very stable and reliable, but haven't verified myself yet with the current version. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Years ago, I remember using the Midori web browser, usually on lower powered devices. Looks like it has continued to be developed with an interesting Open Source group: Astian. They also have a crypto wallet with Bitcoin Cash supported. https://astian.org/midori-browser/ #Midori #webBrowser #BitCoinCash #OpenSourse npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Very cool. Great that you have had that experience. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Very cool that you have tried Linux. Hope you can find an external USB drive for bootable live linux. Only needs to be 4GB (or larger). npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew A few more tweaks to the LXQt desktop. Put the menu bar at the top of the screen. Removed the start menu (mainmenu) and Quick Launch. Put the Desktop Switcher on the right side of the bar. I am launching applications with lxqt-runner bound to a shortcut key, 'Super + Space' (so similar to default rofi or drun functionality, but the default built in tool for LXQt). The default keyboard shortcuts for positioning windows are pretty good but assume having the numpad, which I do since I am using this on a desktop with full size keyboard. I modified the keyboard shortcut for 'maximize window' to be 'Super + Begin(keypad)' s that the center of keypad does what I intuitively expect it to for window positioning. Right now I feel very comfy in LXQt. There's just enough for widgets and customization to feel that it is easy to use. Just enough ability to customize, without being overwhelmed with options. It is light and quick. #LXQt #Linux #VendefoulWolf #Devuan https://blossom.primal.net/05780d955b132ecc15094801a9b944c6db8b85a8fa0990163a679c0197bfec81.png npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Thank you for your good work in helping new nostr users! npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I have installed the LXQT version of Vendefoul Wolf Linux on a ThinkCentre Tiny M700. My first couple attempts to install were unsuccessful... but I now think that is due to me trying to use the "disk encryption" checkbox in the installer. After just about a half hour of getting used to it and making a few adjustments to the keyboard shortcuts and settings, I am quite happy with LXQT. It is quick and light and has most of core features that Cinnamon desktop has. https://vendefoul-wolf-linux.sourceforge.io/index_en.html #linux #lxqt #devuan #VendefoulWolf https://blossom.primal.net/8ee0d7f9022e5e9bc4593065009cf5e2c901706a26e20f44e709d33ead2e8e4b.png npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Most of the time, I recommend Linux. I am typing from a Linux laptop as I write this message. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Microsoft Windows Drops Under 60% in Global Desktop OS Share for the First Time in Years The good news is that the percentage of Windows active usage is going down... the bad news is that it is still over half (fifty percent). https://linuxiac.com/windows-drops-under-60-in-global-desktop-os-share-for-the-first-time-in-years/ #microSoft #Windows #tech npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I think it could probably be found or purchased as an e-book. I listened to the audio book version, but would like to revisit and read the print version. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Yes. It covers that history and the split that created Bitcoin Cash. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I highly recommend this book. https://www.hijackingbitcoin.com/ #bitcoin npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Here's the website about it that explains more: https://massgrave.dev/ I use it as well to fix Windows activation problems. It is a useful tool. For actually using an office suite: LibreOffice is a great free and open source alternative. LibreOffice.org npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Please do. Feel free to DM me if I miss seeing your posts about tech. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Glad you did. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Thank you for pointing it out... Sometimes people use 'bots' too, to write a reply for them. So there's a fine line between person and bot, depending how how someone is using it. I get your concern. Stuff that's super obvious that it is written by a non-person, I usually do not tip. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Ahhh.... but how do you know what to consistently do? I agree that doing something is usually better than doing nothing. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Let us know what you find. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew There is no fee to subscribe. Today, I upgraded an older computer from a slow hard disk drive to a much faster Solid State Drive (SSD) and also doubled the memory (RAM). npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Good morning Hope you have a good day. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Thank you Faria. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Wow! A lot of things happened in my life this last week. Mundane and unexciting in the grand schedule of things, but a roller coaster of emotion for me. I normally announce the winner of my weekly giveaway on Wednesday, but pushing back until Saturday due to all the stuff going on for me. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Proof of Work picture! npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Busy day today! npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew What is the video of? I see capacitors being packed, but don't know why one end is tied to the white block. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Good morning! npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew And there's room for multiple crypto-currencies that have different use cases. Bitcoin Cash works great for tips and buying coffee, but sometimes you may want to ensure more privacy. In that case, use some of your Bitcoin Cash to buy Monero and then use Monero for a more private transaction. The Monero guys also usually recommend the "Hijacking Bitcoin" book. #monero #privacy npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew If you haven't already, I do recommending reading or listening to the "Hijacking Bitcoin" book. Very informative. https://www.hijackingbitcoin.com/ npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Pretty much, as long as it is either a crypto-currency or physical currency. Bank transfers, bank cards, credit cards and similar tools can be selectively denied. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Physical cash also works well for this (though originally issued by central banks). The great thing is that you can easily sell your Bitcoin Cash for physical cash to people in person who want some Bitcoin Cash. No one can stop you. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew no problem. Hope you are able to get your important data stored in more than one place. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew If you can copy the important data off the damaged drive another way, that is perhaps better than CloneZilla. I needed to rescue the whole Windows system with installed software for a business client. I had to used the advanced mode with the '-rescue' option that would keep reading even when encountering bad sectors. If you just need data off and the drive can be mounted, best to just copy it off onto another drive. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Toshiba is a Japanese brand name. But they had a lot of their hard disk storage drives made in the Philippines. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I appreciate that. Open source tools are great. The nostr protocol and Bitcoin Cash are also open source. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I was able to successfully copy a hard disk drive that was failing with bad sectors to another good storage drive using the tool CloneZilla. I have used CloneZilla for years and it has been very helpful. I use it to make copies and "images" of whole systems. This saves me a lot of time or allows me to do things that I wouldn't otherwise be able to. The laptop pictured is being "imaged" with CloneZilla and the image is being saved on the external hard drive to the right of the laptop. CloneZilla is based on Linux and I usually live boot it from a USB drive. #CloneZilla #Linux https://blossom.primal.net/f97fbe3cbbba4dbea746a1fb61bdaa8314094b1edcf1a7865fa3c6a6878b8c6a.jpg npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew The 'OC' original content feature is probably looking at the meta-data of the photograph file. Screenshot and exports from your rendering software won't have that, even if they are your "original content". npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Do you have an idea of what kind of business you want to own ? npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew "Made in Philippines" I grabbed this drive to do a data transfer and noticed the label that says where it was made. Do any of my followers from the Philippines know if hard drives are still being made there? Anyone know anyone who works for a tech company? (manufacturing or other). #toshiba #philippines https://blossom.primal.net/0c2320769f6ee6db685566d5f5c0be4c3069a8d806bf644e6bbe0f6cf8235509.jpg npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Good morning and Welcome! Glad you could join us. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew No need to subscribe again. Once subscribed, you have a chance to win every week. I use the Linux core utility 'shuf' to randomly select a subscriber of my email newsletter. This week I will be giving away a refurbished Lenovo ThinkCentre M710q Tiny with Linux pre-installed (or $50 worth of BCH or XMR) For a chance to win, just be a subscriber. https://retroedgetech.substack.com/ #Linux #TinyMiniMicro #Lenovo #giveAway #BitcoinCash npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Good morning Cherry. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Proof of work! npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Be careful. I regret most of the time that I spent trading. Wish I would have spent that time learning and doing other things. Sounds like people here use the Cauldron DEX. I am curious about that, too, but not jumping to use it as I am now cautious about trading. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Trading can be very risky. Most traders do not win. Because of that, I do recommend focusing on using Bitcoin Cash for every day types of use among friends, family and local sellers. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I am having a pretty good day. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew That's risky, if you get stuck with a token that plunges in value after you've traded for it. I understand the appeal, though. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Welcome. Good to have you join us! Glad that Chucha invited you. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Lower cost is one reason why I prefer older computers. Some older computers are also easier to upgrade than some new ones. It varies though. For my needs, I do not need anything brand now. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Yes. Most of the computers I have are inexpensive. I prefer using older computers. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew For traveling, I have a ThinkPad laptop. I have a front desk Tiny desktop computer and then another couple other desktop computers for other work. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I mostly use the same. From the ThinkPad T470s laptop I am typing on now, I have Intel integrated graphics. My front desk ThinkCentre M710q Tiny also have Intel integrated graphics. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew #nVidia #GraphicsCard This is how I feel about nVidia graphics cards. I do understand why people buy them. The performance is usually good on Windows PC. But I am a Linux guy. I prefer AMD or even Intel graphics over nVidia. If you have a PC, what kind of graphics card do you prefer? https://blossom.primal.net/38aa28d5f13e2b7fb4a7fb3b34f765968d9ed5ad3e65d832b7508bd0d8f2c87f.jpg npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Toyota has a good reputation. Hope it works well for you. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Eating less carbs and more beef has been good for me. Hope you continue to see positive results! npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew > ASCII (pronounced “as-key”) is short for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. This is a simple encoding scheme that was first used on Tele-type machines to map keyboard characters to numbers. from The Linux Command Line book - page 41 #ASCII #text npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew No problem. I enjoy being outside too and green is a calming color. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Bad news is that most people won't be able to buy a vehicle with investing profits alone. Building some kind of business is a more reliable way to make money (BCH included). npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Toyota has a good reputation, for sure. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I'd love to own this vehicle! Thanks for joining us! npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Congratulations on your new job! npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I have lots of computer work today. Repair, communication with clients. Possibly some sales. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I buy almost all of my equipment used, too. Do consider writing some posts about your photography work and knowledge. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew What kind of cameras do you prefer? Have any tips for beginners to get used to their cameras? npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I've noticed some glitchy-ness with profiles, too. I've seen something similar when comparing profiles, it seems to 'remember' another profile you've looked at and then apply that view to the wrong profile. It's a bug that is likely to be worked out and fixed sometime later. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Feel free to click through the link to Substack and subscribe. I've known the basics for years, but have recently been pushing myself to write more useful and slightly more complicated scripts in Bash. Commenting code is very helpful, both in writing the code as comments can give a structure that is then filled in with functional code, and also later when reading the script to review or make adjustments. Here's a good article (not by me) on how to use comments in Bash Scripts: https://www.tecmint.com/bash-script-comments/ #Linux #bash #programming npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Regular people can use Linux, too. My whole family uses computers with Linux. I'm typing this from a laptop that has Linux on. It is a good alternative to know about, especially because it can run on older computers that would not run the current version of Windows. That said, a lot of programmers do use Linux, too. I am trying to become better at writing computer code. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Good morning. I may be getting news of a change soon, maybe today. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew First time using nostr ? npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I have found Bitcoin Lightening to be very lacking. It was extremely confusing and I never was able to set it up to be able to receive Lightening Zaps on nostr. Also, Lightening isn't on-chain, like the Bitcoin Cash tips I am using now. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Tipping you work now. Glad I could help you test that. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew A Chess game with each move of the game being a nostr note. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew More in alignment with the privacy stance of Monero. But the focus on actually using Bitcoin Cash as a currency is appealing. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew {"type":"move","gameId":"6067ebf8a4eb034ff8d57e0915e14b3a93501c683d890700d274480e9085a54d","uci":"e2e4","fen":"rnbqkbnr/pppppppp/8/8/4P3/8/PPPP1PPP/RNBQKBNR b KQkq e3 0 1","moveNum":1} npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew It certainly wouldn't be good (or fair) to change someone's password if they didn't want you to! npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Here's one of my older blog posts: How to change another users's password (on a Linux server) https://retroedge.tech/posts/change-passwd/ I really like the layout and general feeling of my blog. I should bring it back to life, as I haven't posted there in a while. #Linux #SysAdmin #blog #blogging npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew That's a great book! The 'Hijacking Bitcoin' book really changed my perspective. I also highly recommend it. Welcome! npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Welcome to nostr! Or at least this is a new account. Perhaps you already have some experience with nostr ? npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I wasn't aware of the 'bc' program before writing this script. It is not needed for the script to do its job, but used to calculate the amount of disk space freed in MegaBytes (MB). It wasn't installed on the server I used this one, so had to install 'bc' using the package manager. So 'bc' ends up being an optional dependency to this script. https://www.tecmint.com/bc-command-examples/ #linux npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I am trying to use my mind 😀 thank you npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I've tried a lot of languages: python, javascript, c, ruby - as well as HTML and CSS. I only like bash in that it is practical and I am actually getting things done in it that need to be done. That feels good. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Really! What programming languages have you written code in? npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Thank you. Sounds like you have some experience with computer code. Is that the case? npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I too love the idea, but unlikely that significant work will be posted anytime soon. If there were jobs posted, what kind of skills do you have? What kind of work would you like to do to get paid in Bitcoin Cash ? npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Welcome! Good to have you here. You may know about the nostr browser extensions that let you keep your nsec secret and protected. I use nos2x-fox extension in Firefox. Completely fine to do it the way your are, if you prefer to keep separation while using different clients. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew I got the cleanup script that I was writing working as I wanted it to. Implemented it on a server and scheduled it to run every day at a certain time. The screenshot does not show the whole script, just the end part. It removes some specific things to clear up disk space, calculates how much disk space was freed, then write an entry to a log file with that information. I learned a few more things. Putting into practice what I learn. #Linux #programming #bash https://blossom.primal.net/1d5a612de86b2efc17cbbf4ee3c7a8867c4e148c0000edb81b586a08c2e25b73.png npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Doing a bit more with this one to calculate the space freed and report that. Pushing myself to do more complicated things in scripts. npub1hrjtmuryqz82hxzpvv5ulrcxxgrw42afax8n7d9cnnz0zrrq44tqpv3ft3 Matthew Working on writing some bash scripts on Linux to regularly free up some disk space. Telling the computer what to do! #Linux #programming #bash
