I quite like my new fancy #[url=https://social.gl-como.it/search?tag=fountainPen]fountainPen[/url], I've loaded it with my go-to ink, and I've been using it semi-regularly.
But then last week I had to fill a couple of forms, in public, and when I got my pen from the beg I started to feel self-conscious and start to worry that maybe normal people aren't going to realize that it's a 16 € pen and not an expensive one, while the transparent plastic of the Preppy should show its price point quite more.
And I very much don't mind being seen as *that* person (the pen snob that won't lower themselves to write with a tool that isn't perfectly selected for their tastes), but I really don't want to be seen as *that other* persn (the pen snob that won't lover themselves to write with a tool that didn't cost at least a few hundred EUR).

today just after lunch for the second time since they had been installed our batteries were basically full, the sun was still shining, and we still can't send energy to the grid¹, so we run a dishwasher load, a washing machine (cold water, so it didn't help a lot, but that's what I had to wash at the moment) and we still weren't using what the panels were producing, so I had to face The Pile of Stuff That Needs Ironing.
I had been successfully² postponing that for *weeks*!
¹ from installation to being enabled for that it usually takes a couple of months, between bureaucracy and waiting for a tecnicians
² not that it is in any way near the bottom

@[url=https://puntarella.party/users/antanicus]Antanicus[/url] comunque, quando ero giovane e frequentavo brutte compagnie, ovvero studenti di fisica, mi è capitato mentre le suddette brutte compagnie dedicavano le loro attenzioni alle canne di leggere un articolo matematico che dimostrava come la giocata migliore al genere di lotterie con un premio sufficientemente alto da cambiare la vita fosse non il non giocare (col quale non si perde niente), ma la giocata minima, con la quale si perde la cifra minima possibile con la quale si può comunque avere la (minima) speranza di una vittoria epocale.
se il primo premio non è di entità tale da cambiare la vita però non ne vale più la pena, perché comunque in media se si gioca regolarmente si va sicuramente in perdita.
(forse sarebbe stato meglio farmi di canne come tutti gli altri, ma oh, non mi piacevano)

Ma se uno sta sviluppando software per risolvere un suo problema, lo fa nel modo che per lui risulta comodo, non va a complicarsi la vita per sviluppare una soluzione che magari per altri è più comoda e accessibile, ma per lui è peggio.
E quindi gli sviluppatori back-end sviluppano tool da riga di comando, perché è quello che usano, e troverebbero molto fastidioso dover litigare con un tool grafico, oltre a non essere capaci di scriverlo.
(potrebbe esserci dell'esperienza personale qui dentro O:-) )

anche se a 40MB per volta dovrei re-encodare gli mp3 (o meglio, rigenerare gli mp3 dai flac) per farci stare almeno un album per dischetto. oppure cambiare tra lato A e lato B (potrebbe essere un'opzione :D )

per telefonate e sms (e sveglia) uso un vecchio nokia dumbphone perché ha la batteria che dura una settimana e funziona sempre
sul pinephone il gps è praticamente inusabile, la qualità della camera è, diciamo, una scelta stilistica, e la batteria dura poco, per farla durare la giornata serve tenere il telefono in suspend senza avere notifiche di nulla (che per il mio caso d'uso va bene, dato che c'è l'altro telefono). Sono problemi specifici dell'hardware, e mi risulta che altri telefoni linux-first non ce li abbiano, ma poi costano significativamente di più.
Intrinseco dei telefoni linux-first c'è il fatto che le app per android non ci girano¹, per cui niente app della banca, e non mi risulta neanche whatsapp. Di solito quando dico a qualcuno di cui sono cliente che non ho uno smartphone per whatsapp, un metodo alternativo di comunicazione salta fuori, ma appunto, bisogna chiederlo.
A parte quello, il browser funziona bene, e un sacco di siti che cercano di mandarti sull'app di fatto poi possono anche essere usati da sito, ad esempio per comprare biglietti del treno, o cose del genere.
Per la chat, le persone con cui voglio parlare normalmente sono tutte su XMPP (molte ce le ho trascinate io), e quello funziona benissimo; mi risulta ci siano modi di usare anche telegram e altro, ma non li ho provati.
Altre cose che uso sono tethering della connessione al portatile, leggere libri (pdf o epub che compro senza drm), consultare wikivoyage o wiktionary offline (se sono in terra straniera, altrimenti definito come “troppo vicino al confine svizzero, dove il roaming costa”), timer per conto alla rovescia (brevi, causa batteria), di tanto in tanto guardare video (non spesso perché sul portatile si vedono meglio), riprodurre musica che ho in locale (anche attaccandolo allo stereo), tutte cose che funzionano senza problemi
Delle due interfacce mainline, phosh è discretamente fluido anche su pinephone, plasma leggermente meno e forse funzionerebbe meglio su un telefono più prestante (ma ha una tastiera che mi piace di più, per cui al momento sto usando quello).
¹ ci sono modi, ma non funzionano sto gran che bene, e comunque non si avrebbero i google services

Se Milano - Roma è un viaggio di una settimana, lo può fare o chi lo sta facendo per lavoro (i musicisti citati, mercanti, ecc.), chi sta migrando sapendo che non avrà modo di tornare a casa se non dopo anni, o i pochi privilegiati che possono permettersi di passare uno o più mesi viaggiando in giro per l'europa o il mondo, tanto le loro rendite continuano ad arrivargli senza che loro facciano niente.
Per chi poteva permettersi di viaggiare già allora no, non è cambiato molto.
Per tutti gli altri però è cambiato tutto, dalla possibilità di visitare posti diversi e idealmente interagire con culture diverse, alla possibilità di potersi trasferire per lavoro di centinaia o migliaia di km sapendo che comunque qualche volta all'anno è sempre possibile tornare a casa a trovare famiglia e amici — e se nella casa d'origine c'è un emergenza, è facile che lo si sappia subito e che in un paio di giorni si sia lì

costruire eolico scala un po' di meno alle dimensioni domestiche, ma a parte quello non è così differente
e l'energia prodotta con eolico e solare costa, e quindi può essere rivenduta a, meno di quella nucleare
dovendo scegliere dove investire soldi, mi pare che una delle due opzioni sia molto più vantaggiosa dell'altra
le centrali già esistenti hanno considerazioni diverse, visto che il prezzo per costruirle è già stato pagato, e quello per smantellarle sarà da pagare comunque

in automatico dovrebbe essere, in /etc/fstab,
192.168.2.4:/condivisa/foto /home/foto sshfs rw 0 0
(man sshfs dice “To mount an SSHFS filesystem from /etc/fstab, simply use sshfs as the file system type.”)

notably I never add 3rd party repositories, only the official debian ones; I almost never have held packages, and I can't remember running into dependency issues on stable. On testing sometimes it happens that dist-upgrade would remove some package I use, but in that case I just wait a few days before trying again and it usually has been fixed.

and I've fallen into temptation and downloaded tvtropes, but maybe that's better left alone, in a lead-lined locked case :D

I'm trying to use the debian images from https://cloud.debian.org/images/cloud/ to setup a new virtual machine with libvirt, but it's not working and I don't understand what's wrong.
I have downloaded [code]debian-12-genericcloud-amd64.qcow2[/code] and then I try to run:
[code]virt-install --name testvm --import --os-variant debian12 --disk debian-12-genericcloud-amd64.qcow2 --network network=glcomobr --cloud-init[/code]
(where the glcomobr is a network that I have defined locally and is currently up)
I get something like

Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong and can point me in the direction of the right documentation to follow?
