Last Notes npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Also sometimes furniture and bikes and a good chunk of your groceries. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Their other cookedness option was étalé. I am good at all sorts of French but a lot of menu/restaurant French evades me. The conversation about it was kind of funny because I ordered in French and she asks me about miroir and then pre-emptively clarifies "sunny side up" and I was like "oh, c'est ce que ça veut dire. Je n'ai jamais entendu ça. Oui, oeuf miroir." npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie This reminds me of when we went for crepes in Aylmer the other day and their word on the menu for sunny side up was "mirroir" and neither me nor my fluently bilingual partner had ever heard that before. Now we're wondering how common it is. Don't even get me started on words for meat doneness in other languages. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie My guess is next week. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I... what? npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Especially for advocacy groups I wish they'd branch out to non-evil corporation-owned platforms. I get that they want to stay on there, but they should at least *try* to encourage people to go elsewhere to remove *some* eyeballs from those platforms. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I had to send the link to my partner so I could watch it, but that was very helpful, thank you! npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Is there a source? Peeps on Reddit? npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I'd argue that asking Copilot questions about excel is one of its main reasonable use cases - something that should be built into excel so you can figure out how to do formulas easier and not have to pick through forum questions about how to do certain things you want to do. Excel is so useful but Microsoft has kept it needlessly complicated. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie As someone who primarily learned through reading and got lots of word pronunciations wrong until I heard them or was corrected, I will never get over the correct pronunciation of assuage (ah-swage and not ah-su-age). I hate it. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Also they are basically going to have to fire me because I am not going back full time ever. I cannot. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie My boss mostly leaves me to do what I need to and we're not tracked, but yes. How can doctor's notes not be accepted??? Are people at our workplaces secretly doctors? npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie The Ontario announcement about making provincial public servants go back full time in January makes me extra glad I already got a doctor's note for working from home. If you work for the federal public service, I recommend getting that note in the very near future because I would not be surprised if Carney pulled that too, to "stimulate the economy." npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie The national parks aren't closed - there are just restrictions about where you can go. Cape Breton Highlands front country, beaches and Cabot Trail are all open. There's lots to do that isn't in back country at CBH https://parks.canada.ca/pn-np/ns/cbreton npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Canada's silence on Israel's most recent explicitly stated aims is deafening. I grant our political leaders the space to take vacations - which they and everyone deserve - but surely there is someone in Canada working today. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Then again, there are still a ridiculous number of people (speaking of those who are not part of the Jewish diaspora, which very much has different dynamic going on) who are still very Fine With All of This but at this point you really have to question their humanity. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Even before this recent wave of People Who Have Always Been Against Israel's genocide in Gaza it has been really interesting to see people who primarily watch and read traditional media coming to that conclusion months or a year plus ago. It really says something that even the constant Israeli propaganda machine's effect on traditional Western media outlets cannot hide the atrocities Israel is committing against Palestinians. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Paul Wells (I think it was) rightly asked how Canada expected Palestine to meet those requirements when a) it's a short time and b) the PA has no control over Hamas and Canada has no diplomatic relationship with them to get them to release the hostages. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie They are kind of impossible to do in like a month and a half. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Oh good we're going to hear from the Israeli ambassador soon. FUCKING BARF. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie This man will not say that Israel is doing this. Just some phantom group; I guess we'll never know. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Here's the story. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/carney-canada-recognize-palestinian-state-conditions-1.7597525 npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie The conditions seem impossible, dependent on both Palestinian Authority commitments to democratic elections in 2026 that do not involve Hamas and no militarization (meanwhile, next door...) and Hamas returning the hostages seem steep. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Sobbing watching the news conference with Carney saying Canada will finally recognize Palestinian statehood, with all the optimism and pessimism that statement and its accompanying conditions deserves. But oh the cost to Palestinians of more of the western world getting their heads out of their butts has been far too much. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie We solved the problem by removing the pin that holds the flip top lid in place for garbage day and will put it back for the interim. They picked it up fine (and chucked the lid, bien sûr) this morning. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Also those waste collector peeps love to CHUCK everyone's bins. They are all down the street, get broken every could of months, etc. We finally got a garbage can that would hold up to their abuse - essentially one of the ones Gatineau uses in their program, but a smaller version - and they're sad they can't bust it, I guess. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Like, fine, but a) why was it now a problem on one of the hottest weeks of the summer, leaving us with our garbage for two more weeks of hot rot time, thanks and b) I hate that this city doesn't have the standard bins so many other places do - the ones with flip-top lids that fit onto the arms. Our waste program is so early 90s. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie After having a garbage can with a flip top lid for the past four and a bit years we've lived in our house, last week the garbage collectors left a note on the bin saying it wasn't collected because it didn't have a detachable lid. I checked and it is in the city garbage policy, which surprised me because we've used one for the entire time we've been in our house and so do most of our neighbours. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie We are super upset about it. Poor tree. It produced so many pears for us! I think we'll want to have it taken down in the late fall if it progresses more and have a tree planted in there in the spring so delivery would be great. We are thinking magnolia npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Ottawa friends, it looks like our big pear tree is not going to make it - it is gradually being taken out by fire blight, despite us having the blight trimmed off and the tree sprayed - so we're trying to figure out a plan for replacement with a new tree. I think some people on here have ordered trees - any recommendations of where to order from and how that all works? npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie We have these neighbours too. The woman has an incredibly loud voice and I am certain she and her friends are all high as hell because sometimes there's random prolonged sobbing and such. It's super weird. She also recently got a boyfriend or something who brought a powerful outdoor speaker with him. :/ npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Who the heck is reminding you of that? That is patently untrue. It's about discretion not about not doing it. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie They must have sent the same message out everywhere. In my org they told people to contact their supervisors if they were stressed about it... and then they gave their supervisors no information or playbook to speak to stressed out employees. Nice! npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I once read a response in an American advice column in a magazine about whether it was rude for hosts to ask their guests to take their shoes off in the house and the advice was basically that yes, it was, and that the US didn't beat Japan in WWII to have to take their shoes off in the house like the Japanese. I don't think it was even satire. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I am going to miss the roots so much. They last for so long and are so much more forgiving when you don't eat them immediately. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie We are in his riding and have received nothing from this guy. I mean, I'm not complaining, but that is also very funny. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie ooh, tramway? Fun! That makes me want to go again soon. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie This cracked us up when we walked by the other day. https://media.mstdn.social/media_attachments/files/114/360/944/529/698/187/original/4b06d3f0dc62af01.png npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Weirdly, things that I felt I had escaped forever in my job when I left on 2.5 weeks of vacation still existed when I started work this morning? npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I liked it a lot. The one Anna Kendrick directed a couple of years ago called Woman of the Year was kind of the same vibe. Really well done even if not a perfect movie. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie What are the frigging odds: my hold on Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, which I put on hold just after it was released last May, finally came in today. We leave on Tuesday to go on a trip and don't get back until April 13, so I could not actually really play it if I picked up my hold. I had to cancel and get back at the end of the line of 338 people. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie That's exactly how I use it! And I also have things like "household favourites" or "dinner parties" so I can remember things I've thought would be good for serving to others. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie If predominantly for recipes, Paprika could be a fantastic replacement. It has both phone apps and a macOS app does cost money but it has been life changing for recipe storage for our household. You can get a button for your browsers that also automatically downloads recipes from websites into the apps. The one aspect of your pinterest use it wouldn't be as useful for is recipe discovery - it has a built-in browser that has a list of sites you can look at though. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie We stayed at the Hillsdale House Inn and liked it a lot, though that was 15 years ago. Still gets good reviews on Google Maps, at least! npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Where else is on your itinerary? It's on the other side of the province but when my partner and I did our Maritimes trip, our favourite place was Annapolis Royal. Cape Breton was also great. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Last night I had a dream that someone submitted all their changes to me for a Big Report through a cut and pasted commentary in a Teams chat. Brains are weird. Thanks, brain, for that, like, nightmare mixed with witty, cutting satire? Who knows. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Oh wow I thought these were shared services standard issue! We get the Dell Latitudes 5530 with the built in number pad. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Also IT: make them big ones so they're awkward to carry to and from the office and don't fit in standard laptop bags. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie That's a pretty cool feature, to be able to change everything. You kind of can with odd bunch but after the first substitution you have to pay a dollar or something. I like the challenge of not having much of a say over what I get, for some reason. I like almost all food, so that makes it easy. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Our odd bunch box keeps having green grapes in it every week and I never want to see a grape again. Luckily you can substitute one item for free each week so grapes have been getting the boot. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Mmmm I love rutabaga so much. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Heck that makes me feel guilty about not yet returning my pots from those plants. My one quibble with getting stuff from them was that it wasn't as established as stuff you usually buy is and I am not great with new plants. I hope they all survived to this year but I'm not confident about it. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Sure, let me know if they show up there! I'm half tempted to just go out in the woods and scavenge some like I did wood violets along the O-Train pathway last year. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I think I got wood poppy at the Friends of the Central Experimental Farm sale last year, actually. I don't see a date for it for this year yet, but last year it was on May 12. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie If you find a source for bunchberry, let me know. I love them so much and want to plant a bunch in the shady area of our garden because they will be so nice there. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Our advance options were all in different neighbourhoods and our poll day location a few blocks away so we're just being lazy, not procrastinating lol npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I kind of decided a couple of weeks ago that I found Red Dead Redemption pretty boring and since then I have been off video games, which feels weird. Not sure now if I should just start something else or reclaim my time spent video gaming for doing other things. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie What I would really like is for these governmental organizations to have a mastodon server on their own websites that people could either follow or just, like, go to, kind of like how there used to be RSS feeds. Not to mention there is the literal f'ing emergency broadcast system that gets sent to our phones that exists for actual emergencies! npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie They have an access schedule but from what I can tell they're just all available at once and they don't want us all accessing them at once. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Did my taxes yesterday after finally getting my T4 and I owe hundreds of dollars and like, why??? Why can my employer, who is functionally the same employer that I'm paying taxes to, not get my deductions correct? I was going to put some money into RRSPs anyway, so it'll come out in the wash/I'll get a refund in the end but it's annoying. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie It's kind of to do with improvement of a performance data system. Trying to avoid using améliorations and améliorer in the same danged sentence. I don't think bonification works though. For a long time I thought it was a made up word, TBH. It sounds fake! npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie @npub1jay…80k8 Hey is bonification a really informal and/or not very Québecois word? npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie The blacking out? That's something else. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie My blacking out improved a bit when I started ADHD meds because they raised my heart rate and blood pressure, but then my body just adjusted to it and my BP and heart rate are back to usual (low, unsurprisingly!) and the blackouts have been back for quite some time. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I was reminded of that when I was visiting my mom and she and I both got up at about the same time and immediately had to reach out to brace ourselves on something because we "got up too fast" and blacked out a bit. I always thought that was just normal because my mom and I have always done it. Turns out, not so much! npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie That thing that happens where you don't realize something is medically concerning about you for quite a while because your family also has it, like with people with family histories of autism and ADHD and stuff amuses me in some ways because we only know what we know and are exposed to and so it seems "normal". npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Yeah I was noticing that eggs were really expensive in Surrey the other day! Ugh. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie When looking to see if it was, I found this page, which seems useful. I will also be focusing on buying products from Mexico whee I can. They need our support too. https://madeinca.ca/grocery-store-guide/ npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie And Bonterra and Cascades are both post-consumer content and not turning trees into TP. PC Green (President's Choice) is also listed as "prepared in Canada" on the Superstore website. For something like recycled fibre TP, that probably just means the provenance of the fibre cannot be identified, which is fine by me for a recycled product. This is our favourite TP for softness, recycled content and price. https://media.mstdn.social/media_attachments/files/113/991/806/859/222/165/original/0223b5801445055f.png npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie We’ve been making a few cheeses from the cheese book I got for Christmas. Our first cheese was halloumi, which is a beginner cheese but also quite labour intensive! We found the texture perfect but the brine way too salty. https://media.mstdn.social/media_attachments/files/113/986/588/725/681/043/original/9639f013f9800f30.png https://media.mstdn.social/media_attachments/files/113/986/589/071/533/359/original/ec40bd20a4db7f75.png https://media.mstdn.social/media_attachments/files/113/986/589/424/206/863/original/64d1df692a7f9259.png https://media.mstdn.social/media_attachments/files/113/986/589/726/278/564/original/8ac68c4f3b4a1c7c.png npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie In Ottawa, I participate in Foster Family Farm's CSA. We get a weekly half share, which gives us a big box of weekly produce and eggs every second week, working out to about $36 a box/week for 16 weeks. We didn't need to buy eggs or much in the way of fruits and vegetables during our entire CSA season, which ran from early July to mid-October. https://www.fosterfamilyfarm.ca/csa/ npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Hey this is a really good time to sign up for a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA, also often known as farm share) box for this produce season so you can support local farms in this time of uncertainty. It seems like an expensive outlay, since you pay it all at once before the season starts, but it often works out to a super good deal on produce, given grocery store prices these days. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I love northern flickers so much they are so funny! npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I think my educated guess is right - though it's a composting facility and not a landfill, apparently! There are so many nests and eagles along Hwy 99 in Delta now, it's incredible. https://www.ctvnews.ca/vancouver/article/like-being-on-safari-hundreds-of-bald-eagles-flock-to-delta-fields/ npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie There has been a huge increase in the number of eagles in the lower mainland recently. I never remember seeing any before I moved away in 2008 but when we were back in 2019 and every visit since there have been tons - I think it's because of the new landfill in Delta. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Oh good. Hopefully it's just a scary forecast that doesn't come to fruition - and that it gets it out of its system by a few days into my visit. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Erm have you looked at the Vancouver forecast? I'm going to visit my mom on Friday and I screamed when I looked at the upcoming weather. Boo! npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie We're thinking of getting one of those too, plus we'll switch to a CSA box from a local farm from July to October or thereabouts. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Jeez these are such difficult calculations. I would lean toward informed shopping at Costco, avoiding US products, considering they're a fairly model company and we should be rewarding those with our business. To avoid grocery stores altogether, you could consider a local produce delivery service, like Odd Bunch for fruit & veg. I am not sure of the source of all the products in there each week, but high tariffs would naturally weed out US products to avoid the loss. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Great. I'll just up my contribution on Patreon then - thanks for being a great admin! npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I'm on pixey.org as well as mstdn.social. Is there a separate place to contribute to you for pixey or does it all end up pooled together? npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I have it in my head that I need to get myself a Steam Deck. It would kind of solve the issue of having two sort of walled ecosystem gaming devices - a Macbook and a Switch - that don't get all the titles while not having to get a giant non-portable gaming system like a PS5 or a whole-ass second computer. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Oh yes. We did it for about 45 minutes with chicken thighs and it was perfect. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie We made this tagine last night for dinner, replacing the beef with the chicken and it was really delicious - easily as good as what we ate when we were in Morocco, even - and I want to eat it for every meal. I bet it would also be good with tofu. https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1025869-beef-tagine-with-green-beans-and-olives?unlocked_article_code=1.qk4.7KgP.JIxtnkUpjcA7&smid=share-url npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Is the Android pixelfed app any better? npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I'm using the Impressia app to access it and I notice that while the web version has Stories (like Instagram's) the app doesn't seem to have a way to post those, nor is there a mechanism to add stickers or any overlay text like Insta on the web version. Odd, but I'm sure they'll fix that eventually. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I've signed up for a pixelfed account as well - I'm https://pixey.org/@casseagull I'm really out of practice using a photo sharing app, since I haven't actively used Instagram in years at this point, but I'm trying to get back into the habit. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Oh hey I forgot about its existence, but the Patinoire du ruisseau de la Brasserie is open again this season, nice. https://mstdn.social/home npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I almost find the communication aspect to be too much for me these days! I have an extremely high level of comfort with dentist stuff though so I appreciate that they're meeting the nervous people closer to where they are so more people can get their teefs cared for. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Aw that sucks. If this one doesn't work out and you want a recommendation, I really like the place I go to. I find hygienists are trained to be much much more gentle these days too, like they walk you through every step they're taking before doing it. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Gods I hate the modern world for its electronic crap we have to deal with. Our dishwasher, which is less than four years old and works great, all of a sudden doesn't respond to us pressing the buttons on the control panel, even though it powers on. The control panel replacement part has been discontinued, even though they (GE) still sell the same model. I even tried to open up the control panel area to just take a look and you need a proprietary tool to open the screws. FUCK that so hard. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Dang I should do this too. I still have an insta account but I hate it so much. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Despite the fact that my gears are a bit fucked that was a super fucking nice ride to work, yay! ❄️🚲 🎉 https://media.mstdn.social/media_attachments/files/113/821/984/460/224/637/original/21de6b2546a3f14d.png npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie The thrift store is easily the most satisfying way to do this. You can get a great variety of eclectic frames that match your space for cheap and it's great. They always have tonnes and tonnes of frames in standard sizes. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie One of the chief reasons why I think that public servants are so well paid is so we don't just up and quit during big periods of uncertainty where all proper organizational functioning is ignored while senior management everywhere contemplates a plate of beans. I sure could quit right now but... nah, my pension is really good. But seriously, fuck this place. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie We made cultured butter as our first project and it turned out fine. It's basically just butter but, like, tangy. We have been trying to get some goat milk to make our Cabécou but have been thwarted twice - once at Adonis where they were sold out and a second time from a delivery company who didn't have any for us and removed it from our order. Ugh! npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie It's a Big Report feedback season right now so you KNOW that someone has come up with a creative new way of giving me changes without using the longstanding inbuilt track changes function in Word. Today's is... using strikethrough rather than track changes! Which itself does a type of strikethrough! Fantastically chaotic! What the fuck!!!! npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I've made lots of simple cheeses that are made with only acidifiers before, all kinds of yogurts and queso frescos and cottage cheese and even paneer and mozzarella. I had just been resisting aged cheeses with cultures added. We're starting out this week with a cultured butter and a halloumi and will probably also do a Cabécou. I also bought the cultures to make a Parmesan and a St. Marcellin but we need to work out a cheese cave situation first. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie I have too many hobbies and will happily dabble in anything if I get half an urge to but I had been resisting getting into more complicated cheese making for a while... ... until my partner, unprompted, got me a cheesemaking book for Christmas. Sorry, it's on: I'm an amateur cheesemaker now. Or I will be once I get my milk from the organics delivery service I ordered it from. npub1hpquwptv4ssuqwhsm0pdue37es5a9kluskk4j8fpkdn4dq6assgst64d28 Cassie Well, in some happy news, Jean-Marie Le Pen is dead. Rot in hell you fascist disgusting fucking garbage human.
