Silicon Beach Software were the hottest Macintosh software company in the 80's. They got me with 'Airborne!', slayed me with Dark Castle and kept me engaged with World Builder. I try to stop myself from getting boxed software, but can't resist with beefy manuals.

So I coded a new After Dark 3.0 screen module in May 2025, based on a concept and artwork from Japhy Riddle. After Dark had this THINK C SDK, perfectly matching my experience.
It's called the "Screen Shaver"

After a solid fight, I did it! MP3 playback with my C source code running on a 8bit 6502 machine with 512kb of RAM, the #F256K2 which has a VS1053b chip. I don't do this for a living so I'll call it an achievement for me!

Cubic player in msdos on my 486DX2/66 playing tracker music (.MOD .S3M, etc) from hosted on a remote netdrive hard disk image, playing on a picogus v2. Thankful for so many in the community that made all of this possible.

I remember my dad dropping the box in my lap one evening, surprising me and my brother (we were deep fans of the series and rivals to try to complete them) and I was...phased by the box design at first sight. It would have worked so much better with a kind of blue colored translucent face superimposed on the Vegas strip instead of that white plastic horror. And cost way less!

Déjà Vu II: Lost in Las Vegas. The last entry in the MacVentures series for the b&w macs. The best crafted and imo, the hardest, especially for someone young with English as a 2nd language. You have to create a conflict between crime factions by placing the right docs at the right places! Wild ride!
