I'm in the same mood today 😅 Just had a conversation with a friend. It's a sad reality. At the same time becoming aware and changing these patterns is exactly the crux of human awakening.
Now, what's our challenge here? Accept this reality. Accept that obviously real change can never come through force. And then remain realistic, optimistic, constructive and continue to act joyfully and lovingly, be a rock in the stormy sea. Life is so beautiful and interesting!
I often think of people like Jiddu Krishnamurti or Ramana Maharshi who did their thing all the while witnessing WWI and WWII.

Everything changes all the time. Not being able to or willing to change means living against life.
The resistance against change is rooted in fear, a deep conditioning and happens on a subconscious level. In order to address the root causes of the conditioning I know two techniques from experience that help create awareness of subconscious reaction patterns and reprogram your mind to go with the flow of life = adapt to constant change. It's 1) Vipassana meditation and 2) the Wim Hof Method.
There's no quick fix to this, it requires strong commitment, openness and willingness to honestly find out about ones inner workings. Studying the teachings of Jiddu Krishnamurti also helped me a lot. You can do this 🙏

In the end, we are living in a world of shared ideas which then become our reality, yes. And if you follow physicists like Daniel Hoffman then this is already material scientifally confirmed.

And yes, echo chambers are all over the place. Since we now realize that mainstream media is an echo chamber, one might argue that most of the whole world lived in a huge Western TV echo chamber for decades. Now, we are breaking off into groups, just like the 'Sovereign Individual' book suggested.
It will be important to create links between the different groups though and I think an open decentralized communications and publishing network such as Nostr is the only thing that can reliably provide that. It's the kind of hive mind protocol that can shape our collective consciousness, and hence our reality, efficiently and organically.

This can still be frustrating on Nostr:
Amethyst on mobile is my go-to client. I just went to Primal desktop and saw many notifications and messages that didn't come through on Amethyst. Now, I want to reply in desktop with Primal, but I repeatedly get the message "No relay confirmed reception of your message within 8 seconds." 😵‍💫
I think if we dream about Nostrs widespread adoption, besides anything else, these things gotta work more seamlessly.
Does anyone know if I myself can do anything better in terms of relay management to prevent this?

Great! I heard about such a building communities for housing from after WWII times in Eastern Germany as well. Definitely revivable. Just need a looower time preference.
I also agree with you that if within ~10 years of good work you're able to afford property, then the young generation wouldn't mind working hard first. I personally grew up with that mindset and it didn't occur to me to buy real estate without having earned enough beforehand. Only once I realized that in most Western countries housing prices are through the roof is that I hesitantly started considering credit.

And if I think about it, all the big old companies, say the Fuggers or early industrial revolution oil businesses started off with a simple craft, say making shoes, soap or matches, before they embarked on bigger projects with their early capital. This was a generational thing, so time preference is muuuuch lower. It's gotta be clear that only your grandchildren might be able to do 'bigger' things with the fruits of your labor. And perhaps fewer people will even want 'bigger' in an abundant world.
We'll recalibrate our brains. Bitcoin and consciousness (r)evolution go hand in hand 🙏

In terms of business, yes, also Saifedean mentioned the option of giving equity to the lender, that's possible.
What if there's no profit related to the object I need the money for, e.g. real estate for private use? We have to get used to the fact that we can only buy things once we've fully earned them? Or in an abundant world based on a Bitcoin standard, prices will fall to such an extent that 5 years of productive labor would afford a house?

In a world denominating everything in Bitcoin. I am 24 years old and like to start with a great business idea, buy land and renovate a house. Where will I get the money from if I don't have it right now? But I am highly confident that with my youth and vigor I will produce value for society with my business. I can't? I have to work 10 years as an employee before, to be able to generate the capital myself before starting a business?
Alright, say somebody is willing to lend me 1 BTC for my business (peer-to-peer, self custodial, on an open decentralized protocol). The lender doesn't even take interest, but just wants the 1 BTC back over 10 years. With the appreciating value of Bitcoin vis-à-vis all goods and service - say still 10% per year - repaying is tricky enough. So, one may argue providing credit will become very unattractive. Still, the need for urgent economic activity will remain for people. How does a purely Bitcoinized world address these needs? Or in a world of abundance these needs won't be prevalent anymore?
I'm really open and think it's fun to go through these scenarios. All will happen for the best 🙏

It raises my eyebrow when Michael speaks of putting consumers' BTC into custody of "trustworthy banks" to earn yield 🤔
- Why would banks alone provide such services? In a real Bitcoin world, can't there be peer-to-peer, decentralized, self-custody borrowing and lending? Wouldn't that be worthwhile to build and support? It's being done, but the Bitcoiner resentment is strong.
It also makes me listen carefully when Saifedean responds that credit eventually only works with a lender of last resort and that with a deflationary currency credit will be less and less attractive over time.
- I would have loved if Michael had given Saifedean more opportunity to elaborate on that. However, at the moment, I also see credit as driver for economic activity, for sure in a transition period, but even in a Bitcoinized world. Interest rates play the role as the price of money. There won't be that massive fractional reserve lending anymore ... but still, especially on a peer-to-peer decentralized basis, simple lending and borrowing seem like natural activities, no?!
Now, even with Bitcoin as deflationary currency creating abundance in society through falling prices all around, wouldn't there still be the demand for credit finance? @nprofile…tqc6

This is a highly important debate - which to my surprise - we are still avoiding. Yes, we are misunderstanding freedom! And we now have a chance to set straight that misconception.
Over time, I came to agree with J. Krishnamurti: After all we experienced throughout known human history, now to still come and proclaim pure evil exists, is the most evil act that can be performed. There's only goodness (godliness, holiness, wholeness) or unawareness.

... This frees their time for doing other less basic, mostly mind-based activities and entertainment. We call that civilatory progress, division of labor. Yet, it also makes us numb, dull, dependant, drowned in a world of ideas, disconnected from nature which our existence depends on.
I was once such an unaware city dweller myself. And in my world of ideas, education and societal reward system, I thought I knew what was necessary to protect the environment and to live in a sustainable way. I knew nothing!
Now, in my view, real civilatory progress will be when most people know how to take care of their basic needs, and are highly aware of and grateful for who and what provides for their existence. Technology will be used to more easily take care of basic needs AND enhance the freedom and autonomy of the individual, not to create dependencies and to centralize power. Division of labor will be organized on a more communal level and in decentrally organized global networks. A deep revering connection with us as part of nature will be common sense.
Everything else is digression. The rapid technological progress of the last 200 years coupled with the centralization of powers was necessary for humankind to wake up to what freedom and responsibility really mean and for us to max out our human potential. Now onwards!

The market is a mix of mostly manipulated and a little free he and there. Often times vocal Bitcoiners make fun of them, but I have big respect for all the serious traders and analysts out there, who are trying to figure out how this current financial market mess is really working 🙏

Yes, exactly. In the long run walled gardens, authorities of morality etc. breed inner conflicts which must translate into outer conflict. Otherwise there'll always be that cycle freedom fighters, turning into establishment controllers, creating freedom fighters and so on. If it's an escape, I agree, there's no freedom. I personally choose to live in pure nature because freedom for me is being in harmony with it. I'm only learning this myself, and I love to share the experience with others. But currently not too many people are able to live in tune with nature anymore. That's why I have a calling to live in the mountains, forests, plains and islands, to heal, to learn about balance and harmony with Earth. That responsibility for me is an essential part of freedom.

There are such amazing get-away places in Norway! But how free you can really live, depends on the community around you. If they are fearful and in awe of government, the most remote places can be unfree. What's your take Rune, how free can you live in the Norwegian mountains, forests and islands?

Yes, exactly. And now it's all about transcending that ever-repeating cycle of freedom fighter becoming controllers creating freedom fighters who become controllers etc. It's about going to the root of our inner conflict, of our violence inside.

Good friend from Vipassana meditation told me about it. Said "Have you looked into Bitcoin yet? It may help solve a lot of the world's problems we were talking about."
It was too intriguing. I got an economics background myself and having been repelled by how the fiat financial system works at university, I now sucked in all that Austrian economics and consciousness-expanding knowledge like a sponge. A friend like him will remain a very special one during your entire lifetime 😉

Social media is a reflection, a mirror for all the garbage and beauty within human consciousness.
If you try to suppress the garbage, you deny reality. And if you deny reality, you can't work with it, you can't heal it, you can't move on towards brightness.
If you do the same in your personal life and only project the 'good' side of you in opposition to your 'darkness' that needs to be eradicated, you will be stuck in conflict, a loop of pain, disease and suffering. That's where we are at as humanity right now.
That's why the individual inner healing work, the spirituality is so important. Because once a person has explored and made peace with the darkness inside, sees reality as it is and not as it's wished to be, then he/she won't radiate conflict out into human consciousness any longer.
Fear of hate speech or disease won't be predominant anymore. Fear mongerers and control freaks won't stand a chance and will need to go home to do their meditation.
I prefer garbage in social media any day over censoring freedom of speech. Hate is a reality within our collective consciousness. We need to embrace it, heal it, individually and collectively. If we surpress it through censorship it will stay with us, grow stronger, end in disaster, before everybody temporarily wakes up and can't fathom what happened. Sounds familiar? We had that a thousand times over.
WE DON'T NEED TO GO THROUGH IT AGAIN!
