Assuming you’re in NH, do you do some kind of light therapy in the winter months? I live in an area considered to be a Mediterranean climate but may be moving in the coming year to an area with actual winters, so definitely could use some pointers on how to get my light fix during those cold winter months haha.

Heck yeah! I think a lot of misconception stems from people who get minimum/low exposure then go out midday and get fried. You gotta ease into it depending on your skin type. Routine morning light exposure is the best protection against sun burns because it kick starts the melanin production and acts as a shield. Granted, you can still get burned by intense mid day sun but I’ve found it to be helpful in allowing me to spend more time outside without sunscreen and without getting burned.

Trained last night…legitimately tapped a black belt twice: head and arm choke, and omoplota. It felt good to get that recognition after the round. He is easily twice the size and weight of me. Sometimes black belts will give subs to lower belts. I had to really work for those subs. Caught him in a couple of bad positions and capitalized on my agility, saw the split second window of opportunity and went for it. I’m getting better, but maybe I got lucky that round. The next round I roll with an 18 year old white belt with a wrestling background and get absolutely smashed and stuck on bottom.

It’s like a real life video game. Every “character” has different attributes/stats and bring different strengths to the game. Technique is key, but strength, weight, height all contribute. Do they come from a wrestling background, are they good
At judo/takedowns? Are they really good guard players, or do they dominate best when on top? How’s their passing game?Are they good at bating moves and tricking you? All these attributes come into play. Those that stick around the longest have unlocked more of the game.
Everything is ebb and flow and it’s infinitely complex, and it is so damn fun. Get out there and go train. #jiujitsu #bjj

Yes, I have. The merchant was a brewery. They fumbled a bit trying to figure out how to procure a QR lightening invoice. It was a great learning experience for them. Stoked to be able to support and share some sats - however, they are still very uneducated as they began talking about if the terminal would accept xrp 🙄. NGMI lol. Who knows if they even kept the sats, or converted to fiat. At the end of the day, I do appreciate the optionality on both ends of the transaction. But it’s slightly discouraging to send sats to people who DGAF. Nonetheless an interesting experiment. Sent the sats with my primal wallet.

Did some advanced vinyasa yoga tonight with my 5 year old son. Well, actually - I do it, he climbs on my back, or finds a way to position himself on me. Lots of upper body, abs. He’s nearly 40 lbs. It was insanely challenging for me but pushed through. Not just the added weight, but balance and composure is tricky. Solid workout and flow.
It’s a great bonding experience and he knows he’s pushing me to physical/mental limits and sees me pull through. I’m not a perfect dad but trying to show him the way. Maybe he’ll appreciate it someday, and carry these moments forward. #yoga

An interesting jiu jitsu observation: the ego is in a constant cycle - deflating, inflating, then deflating again. It never ends. I enjoy that dichotomy.
Some people can’t handle the deflation part. They struggle with the mental bruising that comes from getting tapped repeatedly along the journey. I welcome it. Training either shows progression or exposes holes. There’s no bullshitting. You get real-time feedback.
I got tapped 5 times in a single 5min roll this past week. The guy was technical and skilled. Respect is due when it’s not just deserved, but earned. Earned through perseverance and grit.

Weaving underneath your downward-facing dog, tugging on your leg while in Warrior III? Climbing on your back when you do your Chaturanga…or how about just general yelling and chaos?
This is the true test of yoga: to be able to quiet the mind, find balance and flow amongst chaos. When we try for a “family yoga night” it always results in chaos but I appreciate it. The second layer lesson is learning to keep the mind quiet during external noise and chaos no matter what circumstances. True lesson in there that the kiddos are teaching me.

Picked my daughter up from preschool yesterday. The joy and innocence on her face. Her favorite song right now is Semi Charmed Life (she calls it Doo-Doo-Doo).
