The design, customizations, and somehow it feels faster. I have also used librewolf before but setting it to remember cookies on sites manually (to stay logged in) is a hassle.

Thought provoking 🤯.
I think the first explanation has been debunked by physics. If the ground suddenly disappears, the glass of water would not know about it immediately and fall down but it'll take the same time light takes to go from the ground to the glass. So causality is limited by speed of light and time dependent.
Philosophers have thought a lot about what is causality and whether it's real. One theory I really like is it only exists as a way to explain the world we see. I see a rock falling on the ground and causing a crater. But a being who percieves time in reverse will see a crater closing rapidly and a rock flying upwards. Or someone might see a rock falling in and a crater forming independently like in a video game. So in this case, the causal relatioship between the rock and crater is just an illusion.

Here's a simple guide to #DMs on #nostr:
✅️ Nobody can read your DMs. They are encrypted.
🔒️NIP-EE is the most secure protocol. Even leaking your key doesn't reveal your DMs (of the past or future). But syncing message history between multiple devices doesn't work. Clients that support NIP-EE:

⚠️ NIP-04 is the oldest protocol. It leaks metadata - you can know who is messaging who, when, and how often etc. Almost all clients like #primal, #damus use it.
🆗 NIP-17 offers metadata protection. But, it is slow for large groups. #amethyst, #coracle supports it.

I saved it in bitwarden. It's also shared to amber and alby (desktop browser) for signing and logging in to other nostr apps. Beyond that I never share the private key anywhere.

Definitely! Nix is already packaged for void so you can just xbps-intall. Alternatively you can install and run nixos in a vitual machine to get the full experience.

It has it's own language (nix) and a learning curve.
You can configure your whole system like code using nix and manage it with git. If something goes wrong you can boot into an older generation. So the system pretty much never breaks and you can experiment fearlessly. You can also clone the system with your config on another machine.
It's just scratching the surface. You can also create predictable dev environments with nix. So it eliminates things like a code running on one device but failing on another.
The downsides are high disk space usage and learning curve. But I can't imagine living without nix nowadays.
Nix is also a package manager. So you can try it on arch, debian, and even macos. It doesn't need root and doesn't conflict with pacman or apt etc.

Joplin is amazing actually. I have discounted many apps like joplin, logseq and trillium because the idea that a notes or todo app needs a web browser inside it triggers my ocd.

My laptop is a potato so I tend to avoid electron apps. 😅
I switched to helix from vim for its selection based (visual and interactive) editing model and builtin features.
I can still use vim too. After all its syntax is just reverse. For example 2dw in vim is 2wd in helix.

The universe had been really kind to me in 2025. As I carry that privilege into the new year, it's only fair that I make a resolution that everyday I will:
1. Workout for 5 min.
2. Meditate for 10 min.
3. Spend 5 min in nature.
4. Eat and sleep a bit better.
5. Reflect and write one line in my journal.
6. Replace 10 min of doomscrolling with creating something and reading.

I write my journal in plain text (markdown) and edit using qownnotes / helix on linux and quillpad on android.
And then I sync the folder with git. Not the best UX but it's software agnostic and lasts forever.
